#AnotherWorld was amazing in the 80s. We had Felicia Gallant, Donna Love, Vicky Hudson, Marley Hudson and Amanda Cory all gracing our screens at the same time!!

Of course, there were also the many trials & tribulations of Erica Kane Martin Brent Cudahy Chandler Roy Montgomery Montgomery Marick Marick Montgomery. A 5’2” supermodel who scared off a bear, battled her retconned brat and became an abusive addict. We never could get enough Erica! #AllMyChildren

Some particularly impactful events from #AllMyChildren were: Jenny’s death by waterski; Jesse’s death (mom & I were SOBBING); Tad’s “death” and the aftermath of his return; the tornado that hit Pine Valley and scarred Julia’s face.

I specifically remember being GLUED to the TV when Luke and some other folks were trapped on an island somewhere. I don’t know if it was before, during or after the Ice Princess storyline — but 80s #GH was seriously the action-adventure soap.

My mom’s best friend when I was a kid (who was also the mother of my best friend at the time) watched #GH everyday so, as you may have guessed, if I happened to be there when it was on, my butt was on the floor soaking up the perils of Port Charles’ peeps.

Lina used to joke about how weird it was that Bo Buchanan was such a heartthrob — which was valid considering she was a tall, gorgeous Scandinavian woman married to a hunky blonde cop. #OLTL was wild back then — I remember thinking the Eterna storyline was truly bizarre, but I still watched!

While Lina’s kids played outside, I sat in front of her TV and watched #OLTL. I got so engrossed in Llanview that I occasionally convinced my mom to leave the TV on ABC after #AllMyChildren was over at home. (I’m 100% certain Lina was one of the first people to clock me as gay.)

When I was a kid, my mom used to get her hair done at a place called “Command Performance” (pretty sure it was a chain, like Supercuts) and when her favorite stylist — a fantastic Finnish woman named Lina who was obsessed with #OLTL — left to work from home, my mom followed and brought me along.

My grandmother religiously subscribed to all of the soap periodicals, so I got to keep up on all the comings & goings, storyline progressions and backstage backstabbing that went on across all of the soaps — even the ones I had never watched!

#SantaBarbara eventually grew on me to the point where I was watching it on my own at home. While everyone else was obsessed with Cruz & Eden (I could never get on board with MW as a heroine because, to me, she was always Liza Colby) I was smitten with Gina, Mason & Augusta.

I remember being most impressed with #AnotherWorld when I was younger, especially during the mid-late 80s with the reintroduction of Amanda Cory, Mac’s death/aftermath — and, of course, the late, great Anne Heche as Vicky/Marley.

As I stated, my grandparents watched #Days, as well as all the other NBC soaps. Every summer I would spend at least one week with them (in addition to holidays) so I got to visit Salem, Bay City and #SantaBarbara on a fairly regular basis.

My mom gave up on #AllMyChildren sometime in the late 90s, but I stuck with it to the bitter (and boy was it ever bitter) end. Not a daily viewer from start to finish, but I would keep up on the storylines via the soap periodicals my grandmother subscribed to and by watching whenever I could.

When I was in high school, my mom worked so she started recording #AllMyChildren on the VCR to watch when she got home from work…and, of course, I joined in.
I was RIVETED by the “woman in the well” storyline with Natalie vs “Janet From Another Planet”. Literally couldn’t get enough of it.

Erica received a fur coat from her paramour du jour and my mom was desperate to know what color it was, so we raced into the living room and begged the grands to switch channels…but, alas, it was too late. #AllMyChildren had gone to commercial by the time the channel was manually changed.

One of my earliest #AllMyChildren memories is being at my grandparents’ house with my mom. The grands were watching #Days in the living room, so mom & I watched AMC on the b&w set in their bedroom…

Starting with #AllMyChildren, the soap that introduced me to the genre and the one I grew up with. My mom was an AMC fan from day one, so it was on every day. While the other neighborhood kids ran amok, I spent every summer lunch hour in Pine Valley.

All of this being said, it is thrilling to have a new soap to watch — especially getting to experience it from day one. And it being a black-centric soap, to boot — as others have said, we are EATING. #BeyondTheGates

15. We don’t need as many why pee poe as we have. Nurse, nurse’s mom, nurse’s boyfriend and Bill’s douchebag best man can all go upstairs to polish skis and never return as far as I’m concerned.

I did, and you’re right — there have been some good zingers. But a lot of the phrasing just doesn’t sound natural or normal yet.

You might be onto something with the casting, but it could also have been a mistake in the writing or delivery. And YES! about NKC! I hope she and Not Dixie Cooney have bitchy scenes where they vie for BFF supremacy.

Some of it is the actors needing to settle into their roles and the directors trusting them to freestyle a little bit. Most of it is the clunky dialogue, though.

14. More than half the cast is ripe for recasting. Sorry, but it’s true. The only safe ones in my book are the majority of the Duprees, Les, Eva, Mona, Bill, Caroline, Andre (but he needs to stop whispering his lines) and NKC.

12. I assume we are going to find out why Cady’s character is Dani’s BFF. And how it’s possible that Dani, who barely looks 30, was married to Bill for…”30 years”? That math ain’t mathin’.
13. Nicole’s husband is boring. So is Not Kristen Chenowith’s husband. So is Naomi’s husband. (I see a trend.)

9. Speaking of Hayley, we learned on Friday that her father bailed before she was born. I suspect Nicole & Dani are getting a new sister.
10. Speaking of new sisters, Martin & Kat better make room, too…for Eva. (Again, why no boy babies?)
11. Speaking of Eva, she & Les are wonderfully wicked.

7. Martin is foine, but that couple has zeeeeero chemistry so far. They interact like roommates, not husbands.
8. I do not understand the writing or performance choices for Hayley. I cannot believe Bill would leave a gorgeous spitfire like Dani for someone half her age (and height).

5. The Duprees are fantastic. It’s a little odd that there’s only one male child in the whole family (Martin), but obviously that can and will change (it’s a soap, after all).
6. I hope some of the side characters can coalesce into another possibly rival family. I also hope some of them just leave.

3. I know the gig is new, but the acting is kind of all over the place at the moment. Some great, consistent performances and some…other performances.
4. The story writing is solid, but the dialogue is stiff. There’s a difference between dialogue and writing; currently all we have is writing.
