Given Vila is missing--though always present-- for much of the episode I do wonder how this would sit if it came *after* Orbit? Something to comment on next week really but the one issue I have with Orbit is that we don't get enough episodes after it to see the Vila/Avon dynamic shift.

A great episode. I do agree with the 'generic' comment, but not so much for this. It says something that this is so enjoyable coming just two episodes after Games, but then this is Games done very well, although Games it good it isn't this enjoyable.

That's wonderful!

My only slight worry is that I read Tinker before I saw the film and before I saw the TV series whereas with Smiley's People I will be going in blind because I haven't read the novel

Good morning Womble! Getting close to the end of Pushing Ice by Alastair Reynolds

This is the story that gave us the film, Suitable Flesh isn't it? It's a heck of a story, but yeah the misogyny and racism in his work are beyond problematic to put it mildly!

One of those episodes I've really changed my opinion of. I've always loved Sarcophagus but Tanith's second story left me a little cold back in the day. Now I realise it's wonderful.

The whole cast is superb. A film that makes me wonder why Driver didn't become more successful.

Grosse Point Blank really is a perfect film. I wouldn't change a single frame.

How dare you ask me to choose between Cally and Servalan! 😱

At least it's not Chris Marshall. I think he'd be a good Doctor but I really like Ncuti so hope he sticks around!

It still amazes me that the same people who made Skyfall made Spectre

Plus Die Another Day has already used many elements of the novel

Oh brilliant. Thank you for reminding me that Waddington's Starships existed! Though I haven't seen it this century, and it is by all accounts rubbish, I still remember a time when Moon Zero Two was the greatest thing I'd ever seen!

This is an episode I found I loved less than I remembered last time I saw it, and the ending makes no sense, but there is a lot to enjoy here, it's a very good episode for Vila if nothing else. Re Servalan I still think it's more of a waste for her to just turn up for two minutes in Gold TBH.

Yeah it's ironic that Vila is the first of the cast to kill someone, then it takes him all the way to Series D to kill someone else (discounting anyone he inadvertently killed with the neutron blasters of course)

Ashamed to say it's only the second Kurosawa film I've ever seen!

Great podcast. Assassin really is the epitome of a wonderfully terrible Blakes 7 episode, it's rare an actor plays a dual role and somehow overdoes both!

Son of Domo the 8th obviously

Can see this as an analogy for modern AI, which I'm sure Avon would embrace but I'm with Tarrant and Dayna, blow it up!

Afternoon Womble, I'm reading Pushing Ice by Alastair Reynolds

Haven't seen any of S2 yet, watched the first season and it was ok, but not sure it justified a second season. May watch but expectations low

I thought it was nicely done.

Have you seen the nuts Creep show episode that riffs in it?

Sounds about right. Finally caught up with it again a year or so back and thankfully time hadn't dented its impact.

That film freaked me out so much as a kid.
