Don't buy shit, write your book

Gradually realizing a lot of people on here (and around me IRL) think capitalism is mostly about convincing people to buy things and so are v confused about why this administration feels OK about killing off so many consumers. Y’all, capitalism is about extraction.

I think one of the most wonderful feelings in the world is being surrounded by wonderful humans who share their thoughts openly and freely and love books the way we do and aren't apologetic about that love for books. Also, @kerrianne.bsky.social is such a great facilitator.

Puppernugs had been pretty sick the other week—but has insisted on five hours of running just in the last three days, so clearly she’s feeling better. I’m ready to go back to bed, however. Video: a black dog runs at an easy trot on a snowy path.

People tell me to be safe while biking, and while I appreciate it, what I'd really appreciate is people going a step further and pondering *why* they think biking is unsafe. Because then they'd have to grapple with the fact that we've designed our society to make biking "dangerous" for many people.

If you're a white dude with some flexibility in your life, get a group of your like-minded bros together & go to these events to act as counterbalance to these "private security forces." Get in their way. Occupy space. Ask for their IDs. Outnumber them. Make their fascism difficult.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

Please read and share. But especially share with folks that might not realize how critical Section 504 is to so many people. I tried to write a simple clear explanation at the break. I hope it reaches some people who aren't already on our side. Gift link: www.startribune.com/why-are-repu...

there are tens of millions of Americans who broadly think of Donald Trump as “the guy who is good at money/business”, in large part because he starred in a popular reality TV show that presented him as a business expert, a job he accepted in part because his actual businesses were failing

Even when planned adventures don’t go as planned, I don’t think I’ve ever regretting setting a stupid early alarm (midnight in this case) for something fun.

DEI is the most popular thing in this list lmao
