There's definitely a lot of chuds who have latched onto trying to be modern day crusaders, or think becoming Catholic is the first step to being a Warhammer 40k space marine.

It kind of stuns me how many people don't catch on that shoveling for neighbours is one of the best community kindnesses and also a great way to actually get to break the ice on getting to know them.

I will always remember a friend of a friend in college who constantly tried to explain to us how vegetables were for the weak, and he survived on cheap steaks and butter as we just marveled at how he seemed to age in fast forward.

This seems way too common in tabletop games, I've also had the experience of just sitting for a few hours bored and somehow trapped in a fantasy financial struggle simulator because people don't want to share while we play pretend.

My son and his friend spent the start of the break demanding to learn to play poker from me and couldn't really explain why, just compelled to become tiny card sharks.

I was also deeply intimidated by the green knight and my solution was to just keep buying and painting knights of the realm as practice. It's not the best advice though since you just end up with a lot of knights that aren't green and an unpainted green knight.

It feels like some artificer has a box of these and they don't remember where they left it and have fond and horrible memories about the last time someone knocked the box over and they had to get them all back in it.

Necromunda is GW's gang themed skirmish game set in 40k and it scratches the wargames itch at a smaller scale for a lower budget, starting gangs are ~$50 compared to 40k's mortgage's. It can also scale up so the gangs can start rolling into fights on dune buggies and stolen heavy mining equipment.
