George W. Bush was president - US Coast Guard signed a contract to get administrative help from a company in Virginia. It paid $144,000 & the contract was completed June 30, 2005. Elon Musk's DOGE claimed it had just canceled the long-dead contract. 20 years passed. Presidents came and went.
