This makes me think of my favorite allegory for this sort of science denialism. Imagine a pounding, drenching thunderstorm. A group of people huddle together, holding up umbrellas, edge-to-edge. As a result, even those too young or too infirm to hold an umbrella are kept dry. This lasts years.
