Living in Lowestoft, Scottish, interested in politics, used to be considered a centrist but in the world today probably seen as a dangerous left wing extremist. Enjoy hope and humour, try not to be offensive and usually succeed.

I'm a fan but it's very irresponsible to make false and misleading claims like this. Decades of research went into making this impossible. Fake news!

Amazing how a statement that should be standard from any respectable British politician now seems heroic. I remember when eat the rich was the slogan, now the rich are trying to eat democracies.

I missed seeing the show and the abuse. What was that all about? Have we gone so far backwards since Lily Savage presented the show? Shame on the haters

I rather like being asked to reach the top shelf, I take it as a compliment. Doesn't doing someone a tiny favour make most people feel good about themselves? If nothing else my resting face obviously doesn't say scary unapproachable grump

I think the pundits and public got used to PMs changing every couple of years or months, it became the Tory way of doing a reset. It's much more exciting to see every drama as a crisis

It's actually only in England you have prescription charges, none in Scotland, Wales or NI

Ha ha well it's a bit more poetic than 'we are all doooomed '

I'm sorry but if I see your mate Stephen Mulhern presenting another programme I will be vibing him off the end of a pier.

I thought it sounded like a great idea, let's face it no one is going to get much out of Trump and Mandelson can probably toady enough to stop him having a toddler tantrum and being an ambassador he will have to be a bit more discreet with his 'helpful advice' for the UK govt.

Local govt is a mess, we have 3 councils, I would bet I couldn't find anyone in town who knows who does what and few who could name any local councillor. Counties are an historic anachronism.

You see if you're from Scotland you would be thinking whit? There is no r in sauce and it's a different vowel sound

Bikes are great but for a lot of less healthy people or if you want to get slightly bulkier shopping surely a mobility scooter type vehicle you could rent and park like the city bikes would help. The electric scooters I'm not so keen on and not great for the less able

They really are picking up the cream of the dross

Thank you. Hope they find some peace and stability

Dumb question but who is running things now, can't be his military surely and isn't the country already in pockets of different factional groups. It's great that people feel optimistic enough to start returning home but isn't there bound to be new fighting for control?

Sorry if I've just missed it but I haven't seen exactly what happened anywhere, have you written about it somewhere or is it tied up in legal/ employment arguments?

Are random jumper compliments in the street a thing, I think I might be a little bit suspicious... But maybe that's just me

Lots of things you can complain about Keir Starmer but little she didn't know about before she rode the Labour party coat tails to victory. She is a lazy constituency MP who got publicity by joining the anti trans culture wars and pretends to be a great socialist warrior. Good riddance.

Is the magic it makes the passengers invisible? Shame it doesn't do the same for the dirt

Not to lower the mood of the daydream but isn't it strange we used to do supersonic but don't now and we used to land on the moon (or did we...) but don't now

I know it's an excuse for him to be Islamaphobic but the idea that you have to have an established religion of any kind really irks me. We should be chucking the bishops out of the lords and the rest.

What's he even trying to say? Middle class and middle aged women are more easily offended? Doesn't he have any friends who can tell him to apologise and be quiet? Looks like he's auditioning for GB news

Isn't that inevitable when most of the world is raised in some religious belief that trains people not to believe the evidence of reality or logic or morality but instead have 'faith'

Well to expand it would need new legislation. It was the Lib Dems who got the bill passed, Labour was pretty split.
comment in response to post
It seems like a very narrow bill, no? What would be better?

But presumably if you are diagnosed with a few months to live and you get consent for an assisted end there isn't a time limit for when you carry it out? I mean doesn't sound like the man on the roof would have used it until he was suffering, too much to do

I watched a Netflix doc. about a woman who knew her mum used a sperm bank and went on one of these open sites to find out if she had any half siblings from the donor. Turned out she had dozens because the doctor at the clinic was using his own sperm for many of the clients. Nasty but better to know?

Oh what's happening in the US is scary and not much better here but looked the other way round I don't think saying trans rights or gay rights or any human rights should be exclusively left wing causes helps anyone. Let's face it how often do we get even moderately left wing governments.

Michael Walker is not in favour of 'literal genocide' You can criticise his views on eligibility in sports participation but I don't think his trans guests and co presenters would be there if they thought he wanted them dead.

I don't really get why economics is a big issue, care for 6 months or involving doctors and judges in assisted end of life both cost money, no idea which is more and a bit distasteful to bring it into the equation. We also already dance the line of assisted dying with self controlled morphine pumps

I'm very suspicious of the deregulation agenda. Seems to me most regulations are there to protect workers or consumers and the problem is more that they are rarely policed. The fire test of the Grenfell tower cladding springs to mind where they got to repeat and adjust the test until it passed
comment in response to post
On one hand I'm impressed by the new standard of ethics Labour are showing, on the other my conspiracy theory suspicions are the story was fed to sky because she embarrassed the PM calling P&O a rogue company. Which btw Boris Johnson promised to take to court at the time they sacked their workers

Never understood why they count students, fair enough if they stay once their course is finished but if they stay and leave they are visitors subsidising our education system

Yes well I'm sure Brits are no better than Americans and we have people here that love Trump but how can half the population look past someone who seems to have no morals, and his biggest supporters are evangelicals. How does that make sense?
comment in response to post
Watching from afar, we might have ignored Boris Johnson having affairs but I don't think we would vote for a sexual assaulter. I like to hope not.

Well in Lowestoft where I live we have a lot of mobility scooters using the long pedestrianised shopping street and I wonder why we don't have some 'boris' mobility scooters, for want of a better description, people who are older but mobile might use sooner than a bike. Or as well as some bikes

What's his excuse?
comment in response to post
Yes I see that argument and I'm all for trying but i think a sizeable chunk of car users would drive to their bathroom if they could, certainly for a paper at the corner shop if they still have one. Good public transport is essential and Londoners are spoilt
comment in response to post
I'm not a driver so I'm used to walking but I think in smaller towns than London you have to recognise how glued people are to their cars, if they can't drive to the door they won't go, it's the story of out of town retail for decades and dying pedestrian town centres

Isn't he supposed to do the 'I'm a human' TV stuff before an election? I don't give a shit if he goes home and plugs himself in. I'm judging him on actions, I don't need to like him. So far some appalling, some better than expected, mostly yet to be confirmed

The Royal Family is Emmerdale with tiaras, the only justification for their existence is to entertain us. It wasn't a great programme but nice to see a few critical voices amongst her toady mates. Petronella (don't mention Boris) being very loyal.
