My bike slipped on some ice on my way home. I was only going about 15 mph and just got some bruises and a bit of road rash on my leg. Took it a bit slower after that. Thankful I was wearing a helmet, I went down safely, and I was on a trail instead of in traffic.

Chris and I finally checked out The Breakfast Club, a cute brunch spot a couple blocks from our apartment. It only took us a couple years of saying “we should go there soon” every time we passed it. We’ve been missing out!

Coastal economies rely on NOAA, from Maine to Florida, Texas and Alaska – even if they don’t realize it

City engineers: "We're gonna need to conduct a multi-year study before we consider any design changes to the street. Laura: Violently thrusts entire broken beg-button pole onto meeting room table.

"A planned 25 percent tariff on imported steel, set to take effect March 12, is very consequential to U.S. oil and gas producers, whose wells often stretch miles into the earth. The steel pipe that they use to line those holes can account for 10 percent of the total well cost."

Kamala was right. And it only took him less than 30 days to roll over for Putin.

I care how. Death.

Another embarrassing day to be an American.

Back in the mid-20th century, the FBI could place an individual under surveillance solely for being LGBTQ. This is what enabled the anti-queer witch hunts of the McCarthy era. Now, DHS permits surveillance of LGBTQ people again. Just being queer makes you a suspect. www.advocate.com/politics/dhs...

So while Trump banned the Associated Press from the Oval Office, a reporter from Russia's state-owned news agency TASS was allowed in to cover his attack on Zelensky

This is one of the most disgusting and infuriating things I’ve ever seen in global politics. Zelenskyy is a global hero who has been a model for bravery and integrity in the face of invasion and genocide by a global thug, dictator and war criminal. Trump and Vance are degenerates and traitors.

Hi, former White House intern, DNC communications staffer, and re-election team partner here: One does not ‘slip’ into the Oval Office. Does not. Period, ever. That’s not a thing.

“Kingslayer” cocktail tonight and the inspiration for it. #DeathToTheKing

Opposition movements always seem hopeless until they’re not. Apartheid existed for decades and then came crashing down rapidly.

Tencent releasing a low-cost reasoning AI model with the same benchmark performance at 2x the speed as competitors the same day as ChatGPT 4.5 “emotional intelligence” update. After DeepSeek, it seems clear the US “leadership” in AI isn’t being solved by shoveling money into these companies.

Watching the Twin Cities Reddit community crowdsourcing a list of anti-fascist businesses to patronize along with a blacklist for fascist businesses brings me joy. As we move into the strike on corporations, we should focus our support on our anti-fascist neighbors.

America doesn’t do kings.

I know nobody necessarily wants it to get “there”, but considering our president is considering himself to be “king”, maybe it’s genuinely time for the punishment for treason.

“Electric trucks aren’t capable of real work like hauling stuff”

With talks of gutting the EPA workforce by 75%, this is what the Cuyahoga River looked like before the EPA and Clean Water Act, btw.

Being a vegetarian during Restaurant Week makes it super easy to order. The place we went last night had a single veg option for the 1st and 2nd course, so my options were limited to drinks and dessert. For a person who often faces choice paralysis, it was actually kinda nice.

Your regular reminder that the US air & water pollution laws passed in the 60s & 70s -- and the elaborate federal bureaucracy created to administer them -- constitute one of the most successful gov't interventions in history. WILDLY successful. The envy of the world.

Twin Cities Area Businesses: This is an incredible program that provides e-bikes for your staff to use - free of cost to you! What a deal! Check it out and pass it along to businesses you think might be interested.

Here @mattyglesias.bsky.social says Dems should "fulsomely embrace the safety and urban planning gains that can come from autonomous vehicles." I would like to know: what urban planning gains? Serious question. www.slowboring.com/p/democrats-...

I know the device I carry everywhere is like amazing and cool and stuff but like… I still want a Pear Phone. So bad.

Remembered randomly that Legend of the Hidden Temple existed so we decided to watch an episode or two. It’s definitely lower budget than I remembered lmao. I love it.

Pitched by @robharrisoncphc.bsky.social in the past, and confirmed as a solution in the 2021 Tree Canopy Assessment, here is hoping this advocacy takes root in the Tree Activists harrisonarchitects.com/intersection...

Hit 5,000 on the odometer on this bike today. ❤️

This is one of my favorite thrift store finds ever.

I’ve been putting off cleaning my bike until it warmed up so apparently that means on my birthday. 25 and sunny, so I can’t wait to ride to work with a clean bike. 🙂

the religious right-wing does not in fact like small government and would prefer to control every aspect of women's lives

Target keeps being out of stock on the dog’s favorite meal topper, so when we saw it was in stock today, we bought all 13. Our cashier was like “pull up the app and get 15% off all the dog stuff”. That was pretty neat that she was looking out for us. 😊

For that pay, I could be a butch gay. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

All these RFK Jr. stans just make me think of Courtney from The Amanda Show.

Another plane crash just 2 hours after announcing that the FAA is laying off tons of employees and having SpaceX “overhaul” the agency wasn’t something I expected from this administration. I just didn’t think we’d be at “planes are falling from the sky due to mass layoffs” in the first 100 days.

My favorite thing about the new administration is again they’re like doubling down on fossil fuels and even Exxon is like “yeah we can’t do more, keep the IRA please”. Even without subsidies, solar + storage is still cheaper.

Allegory alert!

The termination of 850 Indian Health Service physicians, nurses, and dentists will have a grave impact on access to care for millions of Native Americans. Upholding our treaty obligations is not optional.

Incompetence in Washington puts every American at risk, no matter how you voted. No one should be happy that the DOGE team - the same folks who randomly published classified U.S. security information online today - wants access to your bank account & Social Security numbers.

On my way to work today, it was 6° and sunny. On the way home, it was 0° and dark. The ride there was actually really nice, and I enjoyed it. The ride home hurt my face. 🥶

A million cars have disappeared! “Congestion pricing [in New York City] began on January 5. One month in, traffic is down, public buses are faster, and transit ridership is up.” Via @fastcompany No surprise for those of us championing decongestion pricing for a long time. We know it works.

If you park your car in the bike lane, and I see it, I will hit your mirrors and scrape my metal pedals across the side of your car. 😘 If I left my bike in a car lane, it would be destroyed, so idk why anyone expects anything else parking in a bike lane. 🤷‍♂️
