I think what happened on national TV today was nothing more or less than a trap laid for a key European ally by the Kremlin and the Trump administration.
To the extent what we saw felt not only horrifying but borderline traumatizing, I think it is because we saw our country betrayed in real time.

I did at least hear a little about it on NPR this morning, but it was couched almost in an "In other news" type of tone, like hee hee, look at what that scalliwag Elon is doing type of thing. They're still headlining with the tariff bullshit, which is a giant smoke and mirrors operation
