I hear you! It reminds me of the wonderful book, "Love and Rage" by Lama Rod Owens. Her feelings are her responsibility, for sure. Also, the consequences of my actions are mine. Do I want to express my feelings, or do I want change? I want change, and that only comes with the power of the pause.

First, you are wonderful. 💓 I was mostly frustrated that I got so instantly hot with anger that I wasn't as effective. If I'd paused for a few extra seconds, I think I could have changed the culture in that room. Instead, I allowed her to stay angry and defensive. A job half done, you know?

Great question! We talked about Inner Eastside last night, and commissioners reinforced the importance and urgency of the project. I'm looking forward to moving that.

Ah! I think more a word that focuses on the struggle/tension. But the sense of being held by an emotion that verklempt describes is certainly part of the experience.

I had the joy of canvassing someone who works for the National Weather Service when I was running for Portland City Council last year. It was during that conversation that I learned just how lucrative the weather information system would be if privatized. Chilling.

I've always been so impressed with the breadth and depth of experience of my Commission colleagues as well as the expertise and insights of everyone who helps shape our recommendations to Council.

That sounds like an excellent plan! I'm going to contact my congresspeople, then go work, then knit, then check in on a few friends to see how they're doing.

I hear you. I have been working to remember to breathe, to give myself time and grace to process, to remember that I have agency or influence, and then to look to ways i can act and employ my agency. We will get through this. You are wonderful. 💓
