Schools Week have devised a quiz! Higher or Lower! Can you spot which statement in the Ofsted framework is for the higher grade?! schoolsweek.co.uk/ofsted-quiz-...

2/5. I hope this says more about the subjectivity of the criteria and less about my leadership (or literacy)!

Great quote from @dylanwiliam @CharteredColl 'If we direct our energies not on evaluating teachers but on improving them, we are far more likely to improve the quality of education that our pupils receive'

My favourite new substack is Beyond the Frame, from my incredibly talented colleague and friend @sam-fitzpatrick.bsky.social Sam offers genuinely unique perspectives on so many aspects of education and leadership. First up: narrating the story 👇🏽 samfitzpatrick.substack.com/p/whats-the-...

Teachers: I heard that if you haven't yet hoovered the house from top to bottom, and decluttered the useful drawer, they will take away your QTS.

Turn that alarm OFF off people.

I'm getting some pushback on my post about banning smartphones. Lot of it is "this is a moral panic don't ban stuff it'll be fine.' A key thing to understand here though is many young people themselves don't like what phones are doing to them. This is different to rock music or video games etc.

ResearchEd is back in Norfolk! 🎉

“Infinite” in maths and “definite” in not maths are related in that definite stems from “bounded within limits” (think “defined”) and infinite means unbounded without limits. So now you’ll never spell “definite” incorrectly again. You’re welcome. 😉

Turn and Talk is very popular right now, I see it in most lessons I go to. HOWEVER, in 95% of cases I watch it and think "that lesson would have been better without it to be honest" Why? 👇

Autumn: That 48-hour window between students being so hot they *can't* wear their blaser to being so cold they *have* to wear their puffer jackets.

Today I was about to write a blog about student autonomy and accountability in corridor conversations but was really glad to find I have already written it!! So here it is with a tiny update #EduSky #EduBlogUK adam-robbins.com/2023/04/30/s...

One of the many great points made by @pepsmccrea.bsky.social at #REd24 yesterday was that in the dark days many of us were enthusiastically doing brain gym / VAK / discovery learning but we were unable to identify that it wasn't a good idea. Evaluating whether teaching is effective is hard.

How good is @pepsmccrea.bsky.social? So many things to take away from his presentation today. I hope I can do it justice when I share my reflections with colleagues next week.

Massive thanks to @tombennett71.bsky.social and the team of organisers for delivering #REd24 today, as well as the presenters who have left me inspired and refreshed. Bravo! 👏👏👏👏

Totally agree. @priteshraichura.bsky.social was so inspiring. His superb modelling demonstrated how 100% attention by 100% of pupils 100% of the time is possible.

Love this from @mrarobbins.bsky.social for 2 reasons: Getting an insight into @pepsmccrea.bsky.social's excellent session today and reading about the impact #rED24 can have on practice. Also, Adam's session on prior knowledge was excellent and has lit a fire in my mind to try and do that better!

Reflections on a busy day at #reasearchED24 Feat reflections on a talk by @pepsmccrea.bsky.social and the great work of Ambition Institute. adam-robbins.com/2024/09/07/r...

Hello BlueSky. We’re here. We finally made it. Please give us a follow. We’ll follow you back if you have an Edu profile. #HeadteachersUK #EduSky

Buzzing for this!

This is so spot on for school leaders…

Join me at #rED24 this Saturday at the national conference! I’ll talk about how we can bridge the huge evidence base for teamwork, with the complex reality of school life, including research from Salas & Tannenbaum Hopefully perfect for start of term 🤞

The key to a successful INSET goes beyond the content, as it relies on "what happens tomorrow?" You've introduced your shiny new idea. Ok. How are you going to ensure it is implemented? How are you going to sustain your focus? >
