If you go deep *at all* on life sciences, “biology is complicated” should be a primary takeaway. Experts demonstrate humility regarding their own knowledge and specifically predictions.

This is great! My cargo ebike weighs over 80 pounds, and I don’t have a viable way to transport it without disassembly.

My proposal for stop signs could apply here too: tire shredders that deploy when a vehicle of sufficient weight approaches at sufficient speed. City is automatically notified so they can tow and issue a citation.

I’m sure you’ve seen the excellent The Barkley Marathons. If you’re interested in a similarly daunting challenge on bike, check out Ride the Divide!

I think she’s in Minnesota, but the law may be similar. I believe that’s basically how it reads in my home state of Missouri. Of course being in the right doesn’t matter when you’re delaying a motorist by valuable seconds.

And for the “cyclists also break the law” crowd, get yourself right first. Then consider the actual risks posed by: A) bike plus rider, tiny footprint, 200 pounds, unobstructed view and hearing; and B) typical SUV, huge footprint, >4000 pounds, view blocked by pillars/hood, quiet cabin.

Mine’s a Class 3 (28 mph) midtail ridden in an urban area with lots of stops. Also I really should just leave for daycare pickup a few minutes earlier. 🙃

With really little ones, a front mounted seat (I had a Yepp Mini) is an absolute joy. Your arms envelop them, and you can hear their little voice because they’re so close to you. I miss it.

My kid and I have this game where she sneakily places her hands on my bike seat at a red light. When it turns green, I sit on them, loudly protest, and reach back to tickle her while pedaling.

Black lagers, dunkels, etc. are fantastic, true. But we had a pre-pandemic moment where it seemed Baltic porters were taking off, and I was elated. (In fact I believe many of these *are* lagers?)
