Yeah. I told someone it's sort of like playing in a close ball game. It's much less stressful to be a player in the game, than it is to be an invested fan taking in the action. So in some ways maybe these stories can be easier to write than they are to read.

In what sense do you have trouble with it?

Since reading a strongly written opinion on an elite lit journal's site concerning adjective, adjective, noun, it leaps out at me. I did email the post's author about adjective, adjective, adjective noun construct, though, and never got a reply. e.g., The big, fat, ugly dog.

Maybe not the best example. My first draft of this post contained more pejorative adjectives. 🙂

@sneezingcow.bsky.social so how do you manage to author profound trauma like Harold's without traumatizing yourself? I'm revising some narratives where trauma defines the main characters, and I'm thinking that feeling it as a writer is part of the deal.

Thanks. That's all I can see now, too, is that the question mark renders the ask tag redundant.

Ugh. I don’t like quotation marks. I use them, but find them noisy and intrusive.
I usually leave them out first drafts. Makes me think more about what’s being said, and how. And sometimes they stay out. Sometimes they don’t.

No, but sometimes I like to break up a long utterance with a tag.

Agreed. But I'm wondering what collective resistance looks like? We have a progressive Sen., but it would be good relay something concrete to run with. Something that will equal pushback e.g., we have a lot of laws in place to protect our institutions, as well as a message for 2026.

Dunno. The Sec. 504 page is still there. I checked earlier today when I saw this thread.

Yep. Shorter pieces take longer to get right. Great work.
