Congratulations to John Roberts and the Supreme Court majority for severely weakening the judiciary. What a legacy.

It's important for people to understand that we're on a trajectory that eventually leads to political prisoners (first non-citizens, then citizens) being sent to these camps.

This is empirically true at this point

THREAD: The Trump administration's DOJ has removed a study from the NIJ website that found that immigrants, and particularly undocumented immigrants, commit crimes at significantly lower rates than U.S. citizens. The study is at odds with the Trump regime's propaganda about immigrants & crime. (1)

There are some very bad stories going around about the Mahmoud Kahlil case. The hearing today was before an immigration judge — which is located within the Justice Department. They are NOT a "federal judge" in the sense that anyone reading at least one nationwide story saying so thinks of it.

Just now…

Steak sauce for all.

Are you a woman who changed your name when you got married? Congress is considering a bill that could make it much harder for you to vote. Call your rep—this is not a drill. indivisible.org/resource/cal...

As we move into deeply perilous waters for the global economy remember that in 2008, you had 1) reasonably competent people in top posts in the US govt financial system, 2) a decisive level of bipartisan cooperation in Sept 2008 AND deep collaboration between the US, the Europe and leading …

Many medical supplies are manufactured outside of the US. I would buy additional KN95, N95 and KF94 masks now, as well as any medical supplies you regularly rely on. Even basics like bandages, Aquaphor, medicated lotion and pimple patches. Order that stuff asap.

Do you remember when I told you that your institutional repository was on a list for a future purge? And to save copies of everything in multiple places? It's time you prioritized that. Now.

BREAKING: The IRS has agreed to share the personal information of undocumented taxpayers with immigration authorities, a new court filing shows

"We cannot do everything, and there is a sense of liberation in realizing that. This enables us to do something, and to do it very well. We may never see the end results, but that is the difference between the master builder and the worker.+

When a person is abducted, there's a number to call to report & identify. A habeas petition challenging the abduction is electronically filed in that district, by a lawyer admitted in that district, within 30 minutes of the call. Anywhere in the country, 24 hours a day. Nothing else is good enough.

like Judge Boasberg, the Supreme Court directs DHS to provide individuals who are rounded up under the Alien Enemies Act with legal process. but the process the court says is necessary is a trap for the unwary.

Sotomayor: "The implication of the Government’s position is that not only noncitizens but also United States citizens could be taken off the streets, forced onto planes, and confined to foreign prisons with no opportunity for redress if judicial review is denied unlawfully before removal"

If you are stocking up, please make sure you buy beans. Add beans to your list and spend about $8 on beans during each shopping trip.

This is high art

5-4, and 9/9 depressing… “But we do not reach those arguments. Challenges to removal under the AEA, a statute which largely ‘preclude[s] judicial review,’…”

Treasury Sec. Steve Bessent: “We are shedding excess labor in the federal government…that will give us the labor that we need for the new manufacturing.” They expect cancer scientists to stitch socks in factories.

HOLY SHIT. I grew up two stoplights over from Flower Mound. I never in my life would’ve expected to see a protest like this there. WOW.

The entire permanent staff of the Division of Environmental Health Science and Practice was laid off. This division addresses issues such as asthma and air pollution, climate change and health, childhood lead poisoning, and cancer clusters.

This is the biggest, underreported news right now. Republicans are trying to STEAL an election in North Carolina. Straight up. This is a test case for 2026 and 2028. They will never voluntarily give up power again.

I do not like when the nerds who post graphs on here are all going "oof" and "jesus christ" at the same time

Since 2022, Alabama’s attorney general has been threatening to prosecute people who travel for an abortion. This week, a federal judge ruled that the state definitely can't do that. www.jezebel.com/some-much-ne...

genuinely begging someone who understands the economy to tell me what I need to worry about in a practical sense when line go down!!

People will say this is the result of a presidential election, and that’s partly true. But the Constitution does not delegate tariff power to the president, and he is only able to impose these ruinous, peace-destroying taxes because Congress has let him do so. Congress can end this at any time.

Maybe everyone can see it now, but the world's richest people have tanked it all to restock assets and get liquid after years of illegally playing with funny money. They used "the wokeness" as a cudgel and it worked. The next Disney princess WILL be white, as we all eat beans under the highway.

Chicago is the greatest city in the world

Americans will destroy themselves with an unnecessary trade war and a potential depression because they can't stand seeing people of color and women moving up a bit and getting a small piece of the pie. Same as it ever was.

It’s funny—I find myself becoming more conservative as I age. By which I mean I believe much more in social duty and in shame, and on a day like today I can’t remember the last time I saw a Republican demonstrate behavior that showed an understanding of either
