Dem members of Congress acting like the people having a giggle on the internet are the ones who can do something about this bill…actually explains a lot about their job performance.

Little tip for the fellas: do not start a conversation with a neighbor you have never once spoken to with “are you single?” Even if you mean well, it comes off as super creepy.

Everything is terrible, but little things like this offer a brief moment of respite.

I hate that it’s probably going to take people’s favorite performers and athletes to start refusing to come to the US to get a sizeable chunk of the population to wake up to anything that is happening.

we're not throwing trans people under the bus for any fucking reason. None. There are two sides: the one that throws people under buses and the side that does not. Choose which one you are on.

Have to say between @reichlinmelnick.bsky.social @annabower.bsky.social @remygreen.bsky.social @joshkovensky.bsky.social @gabrielmalor.bsky.social @joshuajfriedman.com this hearing is better covered over here than Xitter. Thanks to all!

This clown is going to see an office printer and say it’s an autonomous idea generator.

I realize it’s not the most important thing in all of this, but I feel like it should not be ignored that the White House doesn’t seem to know what an aircraft carrier is.

Schumer really took one look at the hole he dug himself this week and said “Where’s my shovel?”

Paying the cat tax with the handsomest boy

There are very legitimate reasons to avoid a shutdown. I think part of the anger is a the waffling. The constant instability created by the administration is shredding everyone’s nerves and now to have it come from Dem leadership is infuriating.

Gillibrand should be removed as chair from the DSCC immediately as any Dem who votes yes for cloture can probably kiss their re-election hopes goodbye. The very painful ship sailed several weeks ago for most of their constituents.

The senators being evasive about their cloture vote might want to consider that if they are ashamed to tell their constituents how they are going to vote, perhaps they should change their vote?

At this point, I think a lot of federal employees would gladly take on the risks that come with a shutdown if it would force Elon to be ousted.

Do not let them tell you failure is inevitable and we have to jettison trans people in order to win

Deleting my last post because after additional research, I think I was mistaken in my initial understanding. Fentanyl is not going to be re-classified. This is making permanent a temporary schedule change already in place on fentanyl-related drugs, but not fentanyl itself.

Some of his readers have asked Mike Masnick @mmasnick.bsky.social why his technology news site, Tech Dirt, has been covering politics so intensely lately. www.techdirt.com/2025/03/04/w... I cannot recommend Mike's reply enough. It's exactly what readers need to hear, what journalists need to do.

Paying the cat tax for my political posts

This just shows that Newsom sees politics as a game he can somehow level up in by pulling stunts like this. In that he doesn’t see the stakes as actual human lives or doesn’t seem to care, he and Charlie are two peas in a pod.

you’re fired. wait you’re rehired. email us a list of things you’ve done today wait forget it you’re fired again. come back your job was important. you’re fired. or hired. come in to the office. wait the office has no computers go home. we are the department of government efficiency.

The replies to this are lovely and delightful and reading them was therapeutic.

A few ways you can carry the energy of today forward: 1. Pick a large business to continue to boycott. 2. Find local small businesses you can shop at for basic needs instead of a big box store. 3. Pick a day of the week or month to not buy anything. Make those baby steps towards consuming less!

I’m far more concerned about the fact that there are people who want to make activism some inaccessible unicorn that only the select righteous few can participate in than I am about if today’s blackout is a worthwhile action or not.

I don’t have an opinion on this action but I do know that terminally online people who critique a given action w/o proposing some kind of alternative of where people should focus their energy do more harm than good. It’s cynical and dispiriting and it encourages people new to activism to disengage.

At this point, I almost wish they were doing a bit. Otherwise it is hard to understand how a group of people so utterly unable to read the room managed to win an election for anything, let alone Congress.

What was that about a real job?

A co-worker today said he voted for Trump and was now regretting it. What changed his tune? The “lack of professionalism,” as demonstrated by posting a meme last Friday. I will take a dem midterm vote anywhere I can get it, but are you kidding me with this shit? That was the dealbreaker?

Here is my Federal Employment Termination story:

No fights are the wrong fight to pick. Pick every fight. Fight these fascist fuckers every time about everything. Fight them even when they aren't fighting. If they run away, chase them and keep fighting them until they beg to stop and then fight even harder.

Really glad that we have moved away from that nonsense with stores being open on Thanksgiving and/or opening right at midnight.

For those going home to visit family this weekend: • Samsung calls it Auto Motion Plus • LG calls it TruMotion • Sony calls it Motionflow • Roku calls it Action Smoothing • Google TV calls it Motion Enhancement • Vizio calls it Smooth Motion Effect.

Finished Say Nothing and my god, what a show. I think that one will be sticking with me for a while. Now listening to the score, which I noticed is particularly beautiful in the later episodes.

I need to move, but I can’t disturb this cinnamon roll

Just finished the first episode of Say Nothing and it is fantastic. Definitely giving the book its due.
