She ran for Congress in my state and lost against the most milquetoast twink, even in a state with a GOP trifecta

Ugh just like, go outside Also, the passage about worshipping and idolizing other men is interesting. I'm a gay man and the general stereotype is that we all worship and idolize female idols (Gaga, Diana Ross, drag queens etc etc)

I don't think there's really an effective way to do this. Congresspeople are always going to seek expertise in certain areas (which makes sense to me) and unfortunately that expertise is often in the private sector I am of course totally down for creativity in some new ethics code

It's also feeling more and more important with each passing day in this clusterfuck. We might actually look back and see Kendrick's performance as the first popular act of dissent

The bigger underlying implications of Musk's obsession with increasing our birthrate is that women have to leave the workforce entirely

I've been thinking about this. The billionaires of the old days mostly made their wealth needing smarts and self awareness. The new billionaires just need a good sales pitch, a VC and low interest rates

They couldn't even wrangle together a cohesive argument around the idea that defending Ukraine at any cost is worth it because otherwise dictatorships have permission to keep doing this

At this point it's exceedingly painfully obvious that we have a decades long restructuring ahead of us. If Schumer doesn't take the next 2-4 years to elevate a new leader he's just as bad as the right - he just happened to get lucky early on in picking his party

It's safe to say that if someone like Mark Cuban is aware of your career trajectory, it's not due to overperformance, it's due to charisma and extroversion

I've been thinking about this ("is America just bad?") and I've semi-confidently concluded it's not the country itself/the people but the shitty setup of our government Like the same group of people would probably be more or less fine if incentives were better

Police unions are so wild. A massive network of armed government agents all working together to ensure the lowest accountability possible
