Always glad to be reassured you haven't been replaced by a LLM yet. Keep up the good work.

I disagree that hyper-capitalism is even compatible with unconstrained art, for the simple reason that it turns everything into an impersonal number. The only people that can innovate are the avant-gard, and only because their art is useful as a means of money laundering.

Japan has a robust Europe-style welfare system, though. It's not hypercapitalist the way the US is.

I recommend a Steam Deck. Works as a PC of you plug it into a USB hub. Useful.

Well, if there's ever a game that motivates you into getting an upgrade, this should be at the top of the list.
It runs on a Nintendo Switch. Wouldn't be that big of an investment.

And in either case, you can be much more specific with what you're looking for, and it will often draw connections and pull up fields that you didn't know were even related in the first place. That's not something Wikipedia does.
comment in response to

There is no Wikipedia page for everything, particularly when it comes to niche research topics.
Just because it hallucinates sometimes it doesn't mean that it's not very useful a lot of the time.
You shouldn't copy and paste from it, but it does legitimately encode information in a useful way.

It's so charming that they're still called foundries. Like they're literally pouring molten steel on hand-made moulds.
It's molten bezier curves and OpenType features, now.

It's interesting how some places on the internet tend to attract people that need to learn not to be that person in the first place.
Yeah, there needs to be a way for a community to communicate the rules of engagement. Could be more nuanced than a mob mentality fueled pile-on, tho.

I suspect he didn't actually intend to threaten the dog. Saying "I will hit you. I hope to see your dog" and not understand the connection between the sentences is a very autistic thing to do.
He has "animal lover" in his bio.

it's not literally that easy for everyone. Some people never quite figure it out until they die of old age. Everyone experiences neurodivergence differently.
I'm genuinely happy that you figured out something that works for you, but that's not evidence that someone else isn't trying hard enough.

I agree. I'm saying that in this case the reaction of the public made it worse.

Yeah. Maybe it's a generational difference, he might not even have the framework to realize what's happening to him. There's a stigma about therapy in general, yet alone autism.

I have no issue with that side of it. In fact, we often need to be told. I have issue with going for his weak spots and personal insecurities on purpose. It ceases being constructive criticism and just becomes cruel, honestly.

Well, I can tell you that not everyone keeps their grip on reality during a meltdown. I'm glad that all you had to deal with were hurt feelings. Meltdows like these can have serious consequences.

You are assuming this. It's called a spectrum for a reason.
No one would be this embarassing on purpose.

Do you wish people treated you like they are treating this person right now? Would you like your special interest be exposed and shat on publicly?
He seems he was already prone to outburts, but going after his personal life all but ensured the meltdown.

I agree. But kicking him while he's down and exposing his personal life only makes it worse.

Listen, I'm autistic and I know what it feels like to be misunderstood by a crowd that expect you to pick up curs you literally physically can't. That man is having a meltdown, he has lost control and literally does not have the choice to stop. I know it's not intuitive, but that's how it works.

Alternatively, what's happening here is a mob bullying a mentally ill man. But if you feel better using the word "freak" instead, I can't stop you.

to be fair going for his screenplay seems unnecessary. it doesn't have anything to do with the conversation and reads to me as a bit of a low blow. He's obviously the one who started it but you went out of your way to expose him. Criticize a man's behavior all you want, but don't diss his art, dude.

Give people more credit. We could manage knowledge before the Internet was born and we will still be able to do it after it dies.
Maybe we'll finally start giving archivists and librarians the respect they deserve!

I'm not interested in AI music! Music is art, and art is a message, and a message needs a messenger who has something to say.
comment in response to
post
I agree with that 100%. I'm still a little haunted by the fact I can't always tell AI music from human music apart.
comment in response to

Eventually the place will stop being considered authoritative, right? That's not specific to AI. For instance, the History Channel used to have decent content, started doing crazy content and no one takes them seriously anymore.
Unfortunately I think it's our institutions that will have to change.
comment in response to
post
It's gonna take a big societal change in the way we interact with media. We need to invent a way to communicate human authenticity more easily, in a way the AI can't replicate.
I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts about AI, by the way. Maybe as a topic for a future video?

I guess my point is: as long as it's still stupid, we don't have that much to worry about in the long term.

You know that story when people panicked over a radio broadcast of the War of the Worlds? Similar issue: people not understanding the medium.
We survived, more or less.
