The outrage is that this administration is doing everything to roll back rights and try to erase a group of people. All while being incredibly hypocritical.
It should make you angry that they are clearly violating your stated principles, regardless of who it applies to.

Other people in this thread have proven people are flying it already. It's disingenuous to say that this isn't specifically trying to limit knowledge of history, disenfranchise a minority, and push a specific agenda.

For anyone unfamiliar, the type of hack they did is literally the first thing they teach you about hacking in school. I learned how to do it in an hour seminar.
You should be terrified that these people want to "modernize" our government systems.

They're absolutely going to start wearing symbols and/or carrying badges. Every day, it looks more like 1930s Germany.

Yeah, races are different in different places. They are absolutely considered another race and oppressed. This comment is just as racist as saying the same of black people.

Also, flying it is different to education in history, and the reasons to do or not do is different. You could discuss that, but the two things are not the same.

The 80s were 40 years ago. Is that not history?
The justification for display of hate symbols in this bill is for educational purposes. Thus the pride flag should be allowed to be displayed for the same. But that's not how it is happening. Its censorship to limit one and not the other.

That's a pretty shitty and racist thing to say. Romani (sp?) people are a subjugated race in europe.

Buddy, Turing is not just and insane one off. It was systematic oppression that impacted and still impacts queer people today. The pride flag is integral to the progress made on that front through history. A full understanding of the history and issues REQUIRES teaching it, including the symbols.

Definitely not surprised. You just gotta say something sometimes.

The point is queer people are a part of history and deserve respect. Kids deserve to know history. Hiding parts of it on political lines IS censorship.

Did you know that the Nazis burned our early gay and trans research? That queer people were holocaust victims too? How about the fact that Alan Turing, responsible for the phone in your hand AND helping end WW2, was forced onto conversion meds and killed himself within a year for being gay?

You must have a really poor understanding of racism and queerness if you believe those claims.
FYI The history of protests in the US IS history and very well should be in the curriculum, WITH sufficient context. This involves symbolism of those movements as well.
What they're doing is censorship.

I think at some point in history he didn't believe many things he said, and just didn't care that they were false, because they garnered power. Saying them enough will make you believe them though, and he's clearly well beyond that point.

I don't disagree.
Although it's worth pointing out, the only thing that makes government mean anything is the people choosing to stick to the social contract, some of which is written in law.
When it is broken, there's no obligation for anyone to obey, should enough of us recognize the loss.

Sure, they can defy the constitution, but not change it. It takes 38 states to each ratify a change.
The ERA hasn't been filed simply because there's contention over a deadline from the 80s. It was introduced in 1923, reintroduced every single year since 1982. It has been ratified since 2020.

I agree, but it takes a lot to change the constitution. They can't solely overturn it, so the only thing they cans sway on this is interpretation.

I haven't forgotten you. I'm just doing my best right now. It seems like you're stuck in your own hurt right now. Which is ok, maybe just stop putting your own stuff on people who can't help you atm. There are people who can, and I'm willing to try and help you find them.
Do you have any hobbies?

Who said try. It happened. Again, an example of how you, presumably educated here, were failed by the system because of the lack of actual history taught.

Not naming groups simply obfuscates the harms happening to those groups or perpetuated by other groups. Gtfo with your "we should all just get along" rhetoric.

I don't know how to break this to you. He won't pick you babe. I hope you personally get everything you voted for. I'm going to go try and prevent the deaths of my friends and family now. K, byyeee.

Do you mean the thing that happened before the parties ideologically flipped around 1932? Idk, if our own actual history was taught unapologetically, maybe you wokild know that..

I should clarify my point in 3. People dealing with those things have very little capacity for anything else.
Much like your own exhaustion, they just can't take on supporting you in interpersonal issues while they are busy trying to maintain their rights and ability to live. Hence the rejection.

So, knowing that, how do you think you'd feel if the roles were reversed? 4/4

Trump supporters are emboldened in their hate and hate crimes against black people are up.
My point is that when you walk in, knowing these things are happening and the fear they generate, and say "what about me?" it's very insensitive. You will be met with justified backlash for that. 3/

Queer people for whom it's possible are hiding their identity from the public. The day the election was called, the Trevor Project reported a 700% increase in calls for crisis support.
Trans people in the military are scrambling after learning they will be dishonorably discharged. 2/

Turns out I'm not super popular here, so didn't get direct experiences from people.
I know of many in my queer community who are resorting to measures like my own. Many immigrants, legal or not, are now in hiding. Indigenous people are being questioned by ICE because of racism. 1/

Hey, maybe we just do it and let them surprise us.
I often find that when a group is transitioning activities, like starting dinner, all it takes is one person standing up and taking a step toward the dining room; everyone falls in line.
They were hungry, but needed someone to just start walking.

Now, they'll "suddenly" understand the concept of policy changing things materially around 3-4 years into a presidency. Except now the policy changes are extreme and affect the immediate way more.

Well, they're in a cult. Facing reality is difficult in that.
The thing that helps people choose to leave is realizing it's too difficult and painful to comply, while avoiding the interpretation of that pain as sacrifice for the cult.
Idk exactly how we show them that, but we can't do it for them.

Fuck. Sorry, I'm angry today. I just reacted to the "Tolerate me" line because of the dumbasses who argue about the "tolerant left" being intolerant.
