This is the first time in modern US history that a state legislature had repealed existing civil rights protections for a protected class.

There's no way this massive coup of the government by Elon Musk doesn't end in violence at some point. They're breaking the government in irreversible ways and when people start fully experiencing the effects of that, the pitch forks and torches are going to come out and it won't be pretty.

The Iowa legislature just became the first in modern history to repeal a statutory civil rights law by removing protections for gender identity first passed in 2007. They have legalized discrimination against trans people in housing, healthcare, and employment. This is a campaign of eradication.

I've had a lots of tips about a bill in Texas that would ban gender affirming care for everyone, including adults. I have not reported on it, because it only has a single sponsor, and its likelihood of passing is low. Given the saturated news environment, it's not yet a major threat. That said...

The fact that the USA has banned visas for trans people but welcomed rapist Andrew Tate shows how all this "defending women" stuff is total bullshit

Watching Aime Wichtendahl speak right now on Iowa's removal of transgender people from civil rights law and I am in tears right now. She's incredible. I will do anything I can to clip this speech but if anyone else is doing so please send it.

"Women have a right to feel secure in spaces meant for them" "No place for gender identity with children" These are vapid, paper-thin, easily shredded arguments, Dems. 1. Women won't feel safe with trans men in their spaces. 2. Children have gender identities because GI is scientific fact.

I used to say that one concern I had about parents of trans children becoming more involved and trans politics would be that the cis parents could have an outsized impact on our politics in a manner similar to the way autism parents do

"No child, and no adult, must ever be allowed to imply or assume that being transgender is evidence that a child is a sexual predator. All the evidence now available shows that trans children are far, far more likely to be the victims of bullying than the perpetrators"

Dont read the guardian’s interview with Esther Ghey it neglects any discussion of transphobia and instead focuses on the dangers of online in quite a victim-blamy way its quite upsetting to read

Reminder that the cis parents of trans children DO NOT speak for trans people. They usually don't even speak in the interests of their own children.

Every single politically involved trans person knows where babies come from and I am sick and tired of "Of course gametes are real" concessions in the "debate" on this issue. Entertaining the idea that there's some Bad Trans out there who thinks otherwise is part of the problem.

We signed onto a letter calling on Trump to rescind his Executive Orders banning care for young trans kids.  Children struggle with identity, gender, and otherwise. Any healthcare decisions should be between the parents, doctor, and kids. Not politicians.

Pedro Pascal responding to transphobia on social media: “I can’t think of anything more vile and small and pathetic than terrorizing the smallest, most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you, except the right to exist.” (via @charliejane.bsky.social) [capitalfm.com]

The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

Hadn’t seen this new Swiss position statement on trans youth care. I am pleasantly surprised.

This lady was an advisor to the former DNC chair. This is what happens when you have no core beliefs beyond personal self-enrichment. party of bigots? Why have just one?!

bill maher compared trans youth to men entrapped by the federal government into planning terror attacks

I too would like to be a fifth place finisher and blame my mediocrity on a trans woman. It's called Riley Gainesing

"Well, I just think women's sports should be more fair" they respond when asked if it's OK to literally deny trans people visas and passports.

hi, cis folks! S.9 is the senate sports ban for trans people—a big step to making trump’s executive order federal law—much harder to undo. there's a procedural vote TOMORROW. short call scripts for dem & GOP senators ⬇️. if you'll stand with trans folks, it's time.🧵 legiscan.com/US/bill/SB9/...

My office is fighting back against the Trump administration's cruel and dangerous attack on transgender youth and access to gender-affirming care.   I will always fight to protect transgender youth and their right to simply be who they are.

The "campus free speech" and "cancel culture" panics were obvious efforts to seed the ground for a huge expansion of left-wing censorship and right-wing propaganda. That effort appears to have worked.

I lived through this on a small college campus. Every controversy that was claimed to be about “free speech” or “cancel culture” was actually either about right-wingers combatting efforts to promote inclusivity, or trying to justify their hate speech

The point of excluding categories of people from the military like this is to send the message that they are unworthy of citizenship, it is pure bigotry and the assumptions behind it are disproven by the honorable service of the people being targeted in the first place bsky.app/profile/bran...
