Saw him and the band live in South West Wales in February 2020. He was fantastic, worked the appreciative crowd like the pro he is . One of the best gigs I have ever attended.

Saw The Jam live five times, including one of their last ever gigs on their farewell tour. Bought 'In The City' a few weeks after it was first released. Was a fan from then on. RIP Rick

I used to watch France24 a lot. Must start watching again. Sick of the non-coverage the BBC now gives...

I live very close to Fishguard where the 1971 movie was filmed, and also Solva where the 2015 version was filmed. Personal opinion is that the 1971 movie was much better overall, but the 2015 version has some appeal.

I would never buy a Tesla, or sign up to Starlink. And I have closed my X/Twitter account. I generally don't buy from Amazon. My meagre actions won't make any difference on their own, but millions of us can make a difference. Hit them where it hurts!

Roy Cross worked extensively for Airfix in the 1960s, and his artwork featuring planes, trains and shops was to be found on the boxes containing plastic kit parts. roycrossfineart.co.uk/airfix

Utterly stupid decision.

I think FYC were a blend of various genres. I certainly liked them 😊

Inevitably the platform will attract the nasties, the answer will be to root them out, community policing, and be vigilant.

Wow, nice to know I have something of rare value in the library 😉. Hilversum book is excellent, one of the few full price books I have bought in recent years.

Still have a copy of your book in my radio publications collection 👍

#SueCharles A few months before I joined Radio Caroline in 1987, I attended an offshore radio convention in Central London. JW was there, along with RC founder Ronan O'Rahilly. Johnnie was happily chatting to everyone. RC was illegal at the time, so his open support was welcome.

One of the best. I remember him appearing at a Radio Caroline event in 1987 when the station was still illegal. Never forgot his roots in offshore radio. Always tried to play the better music when he did his shows on the BBC. RIP.

I only found out a few years ago that he had a son from his first marriage. He had made contact after the war, but his ex-wife stopped all contact almost immediately. Our existing family became his new family.

Great thread. Johan, my step grandfather was a Polish German from Silesia. Denounced by his wife, and imprisoned by the Nazis. He survived the war, but was stateless. Eventually he came to Wales, met my widowed grandmother, and lived happily until his death. My sister, Johanna, is named after him.
