Das Trump eine 2. Amzeit erhält ist ein medialer clusterfuck und hätte in einer Welt mit funktionsfähigen Medien nie passieren können.

2025 not 2024.

Besonders erschreckend finde ich, die quasi-inexistente Opposition der Demokraten. Es ist zum verzweifeln.

What are your thoughts about the results of the summit, is EU+ on a good path?
comment in response to post
But isn't it regarded a problem when they behave like puppets of putin, and then why are they not pressured more from the EU if they are so dependent? I don't understand why they are let so loose, it makes EU look weak, which is problematic during times of geopolitical struggles.

jfc, if true, it was balantly stupid to insist going to the US.

I appreciate your work a lot, maybe the first time it happens, but I respecfully disagree with your assessment of the situation. This US administration is highly dangerous and I hope you guys find the courageto start to stand against it. This all is just not right.

You are asking if one would advise Zelensky to get into a fight in front of live cameras with US admin. Obviously not. It takes only one willing to fight to start one, the other will be dragged into it if he wants to or not. Zelensky has not done well, no one could have in that set up.

The one thing I would blame on the UA admin in this saga, is agreeing being on live television in such a setting. The whole setting itself does not look promising and I have the impression this was all about delegitimizing Zelensky publicly.

You were right, yet many hoped things would turn out in a better way than that... What do you think are the most likely scenarios that this can go politically?
comment in response to post
Well, the SPD was stupid enough to go with Scholz in the Bundestagswahl, a balantly stupid move tbf. They deserve this and one can hope this will have consequences for SPD leadership to make way for more clever SPD politicians in their positions.

The Head of Finance at YC has almost two decades of experience. Why does Garry Tan feel comfortable letting a few teenagers with ChatGPT control the country’s finances but not his own company’s finances?

Couldn't agree more. PSA is great, but this episode was just awful..

Yep. At least the campaign has dug their own grave with that interview. Their ignorance will cost them their jobs.

I was really shocked by the campaign and their messaging in this interview, trying to externalize all the blame and taking no responsibility at all. They should know how bad this interview will reflect back on them.

Now they are not getting tired to complain about not having enough time, on the other hand defending the decision to go with Biden. The two issues are obviously related and they should take responsibility for it. But I have not heard a single thing they believe they could have done differently.
comment in response to post
Yes, 107 days was not a lot of time. Yet this was an unforced error and they very much own it. It was - at best - a high risk strategy of the campaign to even try going with Biden.
comment in response to post
They complain multiple times how little time there was (which is true) and then a bit later tell that they would have believed in Biden to win it until he gave up himself. Seriously!? This is just beyond ridicilous. Who is gonna tell them, that having so little time is very much their fault then?
comment in response to post
Tough to listen to. Not a single thing they would mention, that they could or should have done differently.

Had the same impression, very defensive yet lacking self-criticism. They say they believed in Biden to be capable of winning the election till he eventually dropped out by himself. Sounds quite ignorant to me. Not very promising to have such people in most relevant positions of Dem Party.

So that might explain, why so many respectable people follow this guy.

Beutler and Yglesias critizie democratic leadership on various issues, generally in good faith. After reelection of Trump the critique seems even more reasonable to me now. So I think they are prolific in analysis and worth a listen.

He is doing a podcast with Brian Beutler, who was working at crooked media. I listen to their podcast, I don't always agree, but they have at times interesting perspectives. They are centrists or liberals, just sceptic towards the left wing of the Dems at times, so he was obviously joking.
