Today I retire from Wizards of the Coast after 28 years. With D&D’s 50th anniversary wrapping up and the revised rulebooks doing gangbusters, this is the perfect fairytale ending for me. I can’t wait to enjoy D&D purely as a fan again, knowing the game is in good hands. See you in the Feywild!

Here's a fun plots I didn't include in my #DnD5e MM (2024) analysis. It shows the distribution of non-legendary monsters as a function of the difference between their calculated CR and listed CR. CR delta > 0 means the monster was stronger than expected, and CR delta < 0 means they were weaker.

Why did 4e have to die? A thread: D&D is managed as if everyone playing it is going to realize the game sucks and stops playing. One misstep, and it's done. Weirdly, this means that when the business runs into trouble you always have to bet the house on a Hail Mary.
