I think all Trump knows of US history he got from James Ellroy novels

What's he going to do if the gold isn't there? Melt down some of his gilt furnishings?

Well, apparently, he is going to say some things that are incorrect
I'm not sure if he's going to tell us when something turns out to be correct, still waiting for the opportunity I guess

If you're big and/or young you just sort of crash into them and then "oh, so sorry" as you step on their fingers

No offence meant, but that's a terrible map for its purpose. The incidents and the mineral deposits use almost the same colour range, which means it's really hard to see either clearly

I think the main problem is, presumably that is seaweed but, it looks like a mouldy old sandwich

Yeah, any deal should be about how much sanctions and reparations are paid by Russia. Putin can piss off

Trumpâs nonsense is the perfect cover for abandoning Brexit. Silver linings and all that

In the sense of congress issuing orders? Or does the judicial branch have a role?
comment in response to

What about the executive ignoring the power of the legislature (congress, in this instance)? Can the courts intervene in that? If not, would that be a crisis in itself?

I do think Biden was racist, certainly for a lot of his senate years, possibly he was trying to improve himself later in life

I absolutely think Trump is racist
Who do you count among ârace baitersâ? Ibram Kendi? Michael Harriot?
comment in response to

Are you white? Do you think people of all races in the USA would make that same assumption?
comment in response to
post
Thatâs true in principle, but history has shown that people without lived experience are only willing to listen up to a certain point
comment in response to
post
Not on a one to one basis, that would be an oversimplification, but on aggregate, yes. A department that is entirely staffed by white people cannot hope to fully understand the needs or experiences of its minority constituents

There are genuine benefits, particularly if you work in government or any business that serves the whole country, in having a diverse workforce - that is, a workforce that reflects the demographic make up of your customer base. You need to be able to understand all your consumers
comment in response to
post
There are more passive methods you can use. I'm in the UK, but my employer uses blind shortlisting, so candidates are invited to interview without knowing their name, age or any demographic data

On a very basic level:
Let's say there are two people on a hiring panel - one is racist/sexist, one is not. If the racist person always scores a black woman 0 and the non-racist scores everyone fairly, the black woman will never be hired. Scale that up to a country
