On Jan 10, 2022, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov emerged from the nearly 8 hours of talks and declared, "There are no plans or intentions to attack Ukraine." He went on to say, "There is no reason to fear some kind of escalatory scenario."
So clearly you can take Putin at his word...

I know you're not supporting Trump's insanity, but I will ask a rhetorical question anyhow: why wouldn't Canada take Trump's threats seriously? Why wouldn't we arm ourselves against a possible US invasion?

We already know Putin is acting in bad faith.
A cease-fire of any kind only serves Putin.
Rather, I suggest we arm Ukraine as rapidly and completely as possible, cease buying all petro-products from Russia, and further and fully enforce all sanctions on Russia.

And on that one topic Ford and I agree. So Trump, ironically, makes me want to support Ford.
Put another way, before Russia invaded eastern Ukraine, there were people living in that area that liked Russia. Now? Not so much.

Here's the irony.
I have lived in Ontario most of my life. Ford was given a majority government when 40% of voters cast ballots and 60% of them voted for Doug and his party. Ford is a wanna-be Trump, and busily selling Ontario to the highest bidder.
BUT, Ford knows bending over to Trump won't work.
