It was someone I met through work, we figured each other out as fellow nerds fairly quickly and I mentioned that I had just finished the Adam Binder books by @drslayton.bsky.social, and he recommended Carl to me. Very different tones, but they pair well together!

That's how I'm going through them! A sale last week and a returned book I didn't like put 5, 6, and 7 all in my library so I'll probably burn through them all in the next month or so. The audiobooks are VERY impressive and a joy to listen to.

The Ice Cream Man series of comics. I'm not a big comic guy by any stretch, and I usually don't like horror movies. That said, ICM is some of the best horror I've encountered in ages.

Summer. I love summer. I know it's hot and humid, but you can't beat a cold drink in a hammock on a hot summer day.

That said, about three years ago I uninstalled the app from my phone. It made a WORLD of difference for me and how I use that website, which is to say hardly at all outside of work hours.

At this point the only reason I know anyone stays on there is out of ease to communicate with family, or out of obligation. And while there is a twinge of the former, between work and a social group I'm an officer of, it's really the latter keeping me there.

I just hit pt 2 of the Epilogue the other day. This game is a treasure and the fact that it came out as long ago as it did is baffling.

I think what it comes down to is origin. Magic is (usually) natural, or at least has an element rooted in what someone can do with study. Technology would be the repetitive application of that so that nearly anyone could do it.
That being said, there is a MASSIVE gulf of blurry grey in between.

Monster of the Week would be my knee jerk reaction, maybe Monster Hearts 2 depending on the vibe?

Same for us. I'm on my wife's plan, as I work for a small enough business that we don't have our own. Her insurance is pretty good but we pay a TON for it, and it'll be more next year. I've seriously considered swapping back to a big corporate job just to put some of that back in our wallets.

These things happen. They can't be helped really.

I have a long shot hope that that the Green brothers have secretly been bankrolling the creation of a TikTok/YouTube competitor. It's NOT going to happen, but I'd love for someone who CLEARLY gets the medium to be near the helm of one of these things.

I started listening this year after Jones' in-studio breakdown back in late spring, I need to find a "greatest hits" list at some point.

Oooh, how many seasons till one of them ends up saying something truly ironic in the courtroom due to a crime they commit in real life?
