This is dumb. Did Trump's pardon of Charles Kushner include anyone else? Did his pardons of Roger Stone & Paul Manafort apply to his former lawyer Michael Cohen? Pardons apply only to the individual they are meant for &, in a properly functioning system, each is considered on its merits.

@ericholder.bsky.social is right on his point that "Joe Smith" would not have been charged. Someone who did not use the gun to commit a separate crime, and who paid the owed taxes, would never have been charged. I reviewed cases like this for charges when I was an AUSA. We would have declined.
