He never claimed it was a journalistic take though, just his own personal hot take. He makes a point though. As someone involved with organizing myself, this action is not well organized. It is well meaning and there is no harm in it, but 24 hours is simply not long enough for results sadly

My suggestions are to sustain boycotts long term against any company affiliated with the Trump admin, with Musk, etc. Amazon, McDonald’s, Walmart, Target, Tesla, tons more (available to research online. Many of us are already doing this. Needs to be permanent - not just 1 day

Hope is great - but we need to be engaging in meaningful and intentional action. Listen, I am a trans person in this reality - I know about suffering and wanting to push change. But economic boycott must be sustained long term and have clear goals/ demands. This one just doesn’t.

You want to boycott Amazon for a day….? You shouldn’t be using amazon at all.

Please learn that boycotts must be sustained long term and have clear demands to work.

See - you cannot even engage. I don’t dislike the boycott, I strongly believe in them - when they have clear goals and experienced leaders. You’re freaking out on anyone who dares critique it. You’re infighting with leftists for truly no reason.

The problem is that you can’t even answer that question. What is your goal by participating in this boycott? What does this boycott hope to achieve in the larger scheme of things? Performative actions without clear meaning or goals don’t help- they just make you feel better

The leak could have started near the bathroom. Jumping to these conclusions is healthy or normal.

This is sad, and the most likely cause is CO poisoning. It’s unfortunate to see a great deal of conspiracy theories spreading claiming a suicide pact. It’s incredibly disrespectful to their memories, and also insinuates they’d murder a dog - which is frankly just ridiculous.

You should do whatever you need to do to be safe, but please know that trans and non-binary people are and value the work you’re doing at ACLU. 💜

Drugs, diet, and lack of sleep. He’s taking an excessive amount of stimulants and K, not sleeping, and eating McDonald’s every day, not unlike Trump.

Is this why there are rolling out those BS 5 million dollar gold cards? Jesus Christ this administration sinks to new lows every day

Thank you for clearing this up. It didn’t make sense to me that you were listed, given your record. I appreciate your continued advocacy for the community.

You’re either young or overly optimistic. As a trans person who grew up in update NY in the 90s… this is not a one-off.

… when we don’t have the facts about the why? Jesus Christ. No “why” could make this okay.

What do you mean Canandaigua would be fine…? This literally happened in Canandaigua. I’m from CNY as well and it’s doesn’t matter how “blue” an area is. Transphobia is on the rise.

You literally just cut your HIV Health initiative.

Claiming to care about trans people while literally cutting your Trans Justice Initiative and Youth Initiatives (that trans youth desperately need) and firing 47 predominantly BIPOC, trans, and non-binary staff is really a choice.

The people who were laid off have shared it, and it is in the gofundme.

I cancelled my donations so fast upon hearing this. As a trans person I’ve been skeptical of them since ENDA but this is the nail in the coffin.
comment in response to post
That is exactly what it entailed. They laid off their entire Trans Justice Initiative team and are shutting down the project. They also cut their HIV Health Equity Program, HBCU program, and MULTIPLE youth protection programs.

She’s campaigning for a Republican seat in Congress and I cannot see it any other way.

You’re the best, thanks!

Do you have a gift article available? Can’t afford to get around the paywall as a soon to be furloughed worker. 😅

I think you might mean *Bostock.

I read your books and I am very fond of your work - which is why I am calling you in. As a trans person impacted by this regime. Be willing to take critique. If not, allyship feels fragile.

I’m a trans person living in Trumps America under project 2025. I am running out of patience with people who conveniently want to watch from the sidelines as my rights are stripped one by one.
comment in response to post
No. We are past that. To be an ally you need to be willing to do what the moment calls for. You need to be willing to risk being uncomfortable. The folks that need protection aren’t safe, why does your safety matter more? That’s performative at best.

It’s not about having “cool friends” it’s about being active in your community. If you waited this long to start organizing, that’s part of the issue. Anyone who has spent time building community knows people, and can reach out, and they can reach out to others etc.
