#Birds : the Tawny Owl thought it was time to get up in mid-afternoon given it was so dark from cloud cover (I think some mobbing going on from the Buzzards & Crows). Would be hard to sleep with all the chatter from the Song Thrushes, Blackbirds and Robins. #Birdsong ramping up.

Dead #Hedge using fallen #Oak branches / brash. When I make dead hedges I lie the branches towards the South on N-S Hedge lines. I may be wrong but my idea is that some light can get in (whereas I try to lay living hedges towards the North to encourage the re-growth upwards).

How old is this #Oak #Tree ? Relatively slow growing conditions; clay soil, cool climate, edge of woodland but “competition” on 3 sides. Girth of 20 feet 7 inches (note that as you can see, I took the reading below a burr bump on purpose) / 627cm. So 420 - 500 years old? #Meiklewood
