I've been saying the same thing for a while... It's not as much him as it is his enablers!

It’s not just him - he’s literally a figure head. It’s the fascists behind him - the tech oligarchs, the Koch oligarchs, the insane Christian nationalist oligarchs, the corrupt scotus. They will send the orange Nazi on permanent vacation soon

And I've heard from friends in Europe that Americans are becoming less and less welcome over there. Sad situation all around.

That's the prob, most reports don't show the market flooded with UD workers... But that's not to say YOUR market isn't.
I'll write off the dig 'shouldn't need a degree in economics' because I think we align in many ways and I'm just trying to understand different views.

The GOP threatens mass deportation amongst other awful things, but they think, 'that's who I'm gonna vote for, because... '. ?
It's truly mind boggling.
Maybe that labor market is flooded by UD labor, but according to many studies, overall there is a labor shortage.
Thanks for explaining your POV

So they see wages as a Dem issue and not a greedy corp issue?
Interesting.

Can you share the source of this information? Effects of UD labor (not illegal labor) on workforce, wages, real costs for BC workers over everyone else. I'm always trying to learn the real issues and I can't find info that matches what you're saying. Thx!!!

I do agree though, for some reason the Democratic Party needs to find the right messaging for all these intellectually lazy Americans.

If you want to be mad, be mad at King and Shaheen who prevented the horrible CR from being placed solely in the hands of the Republicans.
At the rate POTUS / CO-POTUS are going, shutting down the gov't just speeds up their efforts. Why would we want to do that?

Schumer DID NOT vote yes on the CR.
Angus King (I - Maine) and Jeanne Shaheen (D - New Hampshire) did vote yes.
It was a way to avert a shutdown AND place the horrid CR solely in the hands of the Republicans, but King and Shaheen ruined that. Why is no one mad at them?

Schumer didn't vote yes on the CR.

Maybe take the time to understand the big picture and why Schumer did what he did. Not to mention he voted NO on the CR, yet you don't mention the two dems who voted YES.
We don't have time or capacity for this right now. Focus on the immediate issues.

This is all just nauseating and surreal. I'm so angry not necessarily at the three branches, but more at the intellectually lazy Americans in this country.
I'm sick of, "this isn't what we voted for."
IT'S EXACTLY WHAT "YOU" VOTED FOR!! What in the world did you expect?!?!

People need to hit the streets either way! As I said before, it's a lose-lose. Which is worse remains to be seen, but at least with government still "open" you have the courts and some guardrails. With it shut down, we've got nothing.

With the current POTUS/CO-POTUS... a shut down government may never come back. How is that good? My initial reaction was the same, "maybe this is what we need." But I took the time to research further...

Disappointing that @indivisible.org is just reacting and not making an effort to understand strategy from those who do it best.

Schumer is a long time strategic politician. As @deeceeisme.bsky.social said, it's not checkers, it's chess.

pay and benefits even more. The truth is we were in a no win situation. Shutting down government would have given the right an excuse for the damage that is currently being done by DOGE. Shutting down government is playing checkers not chess.

It would have been impossible for Democrats to shut down government without endless sound bites of CS playing 24/7 of him saying how hurtful they are. And that is the truth, the very people we are seeing hurt now would be hurt even worse. You can’t pretend to be outraged by Vets and then cut their

That said, the Dems need to find a way to express that they understand, and impress upon others, the moment we are in, when far more than the economy (you know, like our freedoms, and the rule of law) are at stake.

STOP focusing down the road on primaries and the midterms. Focus more on the here and now and understanding both sides of the issue. The CR vs Govt shutdown was an absolute lose-lose situation. Schumer didn't vote for the CR. If you're going to be mad at anyone, be mad at the two democrats who did.

Is Schumer wrong???
“If government were to shut down, Doge has a plan in place to exploit the crisis for maximum destruction,” Schumer said.
