Meanwhile, on the London Underground... Tesla sales plunge. "Hate doesn't sell".

Extraordinary. The world's most advanced economy sits inside the space of influence of a nation of drunkards with less than half its population, incapable of making anything anyone in the world wants to buy. How could this happen?
comment in response to post
How do those statements make sense given Trump's pro-Russian posture?

Rubio's brain was altered. It's a well-known technique practised by JD Vance's friends (we're looking at you Peter Thiel). Vance doesn't like Rubio.

Even if you're not a royalist, if you're British you can be proud of this.

How about refusing to fuel any US military ships, planes or vehicles of any type until Trump is finished? Who knows when he's going to turn them on his "allies"?
comment in response to post
That's one way of putting it. Another is "enemies in the camp".

Trump's policy coincides with Putin's? You bet it does.

It'll crash like all his other schemes.

Hope so.

Some nations have to be excluded because they are pro-Russian. This is more a NATO meeting (without the pro-Russians) than an EU one, since the UK, Canada,Turkey, and Ukraine are also there. Some smaller nations, eg the Baltic states, appear absent but perhaps that's a question of size and numbers.

Peace cannot be established without security guarantees. First. Not to "be discussed".
comment in response to post
Wonderful picture. In effect, NATO without the pro-Russians and with Ukraine.

All the way!

Well done, Vermont!

It's not a minerals "deal". These people should read it. It's an imprecise outline with no guarantees at all about Ukraine's security. Rutte might like to smooth things over with Trump since NATO and his job are at issue but that does nothing to secure the peaceful future of Ukraine.

Great idea. Refuse to fill up American subs and ships, but don't stop there. How about American planes?
comment in response to post
The Americans in that meeting acted like stupid, spoilt children. It's hard to believe you can fill a room with such people, let alone a nation.

It is impossible to see how Ukraine can agree to Trump's terms. Trump stamps his feet because he doesn't get his way, but to give in to him would be absolute folly. It's a trap which only favours Russia and the United States. Zelensky is right to stand his ground.
comment in response to post
This is correct. NATO and the EU - minus their pro-Russia members, United States, Hungary and Slovakia - make a massively powerful alliance more than capable of beating Russia in Ukraine, and also providing a powerful defence against Russia's wider expansionist ambitions.
comment in response to post
Trump has no idea of the art of the deal. In his business life, every single one went wrong, ending in multiple bankruptcies. Now his screw-ups will have much greater consequences.
comment in response to post
How does Trump's Russia policy work with US policy (so far) with regard to Russian allies Iran (nuclear/Israel), and China (Taiwan)?
comment in response to post
The EU and NATO cannot function with any pro-Russian members. Currently, this means Hungary, Slovakia and the United States. Either they eject them or they form an entirely new organisation. This is obvious, isn't it?
comment in response to post
In the context of Ukraine, NATO in its current form cannot function, because some members are pro Russian. This is also true of European defence more widely. If this is not already clear, it will become more so if the United States takes offensive measures against Canada and Greenland.
comment in response to post
That is an undercount. I recall hearing him thank us (and other countries) on what seemed like an almost daily basis when I was following Ukraine news more closely between 2022 and 2024.
comment in response to post
CNN fact check: Zelensky has thanked the United States 33 times.

Europe needs to move past America now. It should act quickly and decisively, outside NATO where America has a vote, to strengthen its own defences and provide Ukraine with what it needs to beat Russia. It can do this. Europe's economic power is many times greater than Russia's.
comment in response to post
Europe has massive potential for increased weapons production. Its economy is many times greater than Russia's.
comment in response to post
The face of a traitor. Betraying allies and America itself.
comment in response to post
Yes, but Europe and its true allies can move past this. If we act quickly and decisively we will help Ukraine beat Russia and we will become fully independent of the traitorous United States.
comment in response to post
Europe and its true allies must move quickly and decisively now to help Ukraine beat Russia.

And structurally: Hungary’s veto power has to be removed. As well as the veto power of any nation that has a Putin Puppet as leader.
comment in response to post
Europe will be strong only if it accepts that the United States is an enemy and acts accordingly.
comment in response to post
The sooner the United States is out of NATO the better. It's a traitor in the camp.
comment in response to post
NATO cannot function with the United States still a member. NATO's immediate enemy is Russia. NATO cannot afford any member - let alone its most powerful one - being an ally of Russia. NATO without the United States still has more than enough economic power to overcome the relatively feeble Russia.
