It's also part of this weird trope in movies where we can't have the hero kill the villain even if it's in self defense because the hero's hands have to be clean but the movie makes it very clear that this guy needs to die

Jonathan Demme’s neo-noir LAST EMBRACE is seriously underrated. It’s as if Demme plugged Roy Scheider’s Doc character from MARATHON MAN into a spin-off paranoid thriller. Great films are the ones that imprint on the memory and trigger all the senses. This one does that.

I like DTV movies. Remember what Chef Gusteau said in RATATOUILLE? "Anyone can cook"? Same with movies. So it's weird to me to see directors ashamed of having a movie released directly to streaming. It's ok, guy. You made a DTV movie. You don't have to pretend it's a blockbuster. Own your work.
