People have long talked about how social nicety is used to exclude marginalised people. This piece is such a uniquely clear illustration of the point because it's so crude and overt: when your very presence makes people uncomfortable, it becomes impolite, or an imposition to simply *be* present.

Cis people are going to be really shocked when they find what they're doing in America and the UK to trans people. I mean, they could just listen to trans people now, but they won't, so when they eventually undergo a 'great noticing', theyre going to be shocked.

This hate filled nurse would even walk out of A RESUSITATION AREA because a trans person was there?! "Gender Critical" people should not be allowed to work in healthcare at all if this is what they're like. What would happen if she was needed to help resuscitate someone she thought was trans? Sick

I remember when Section 28 was all the gays fault for asking for equal rights. Even the Guardian said so. They’re like an abusive husband telling his wife he had to hit her, she was out of order.

i can’t believe it’s been two years since brianna ghey was murdered. thinking about how keir starmer cynically used her grieving mother to score cheap points against sunak. wes streeting would currently be forcing conversion practices on her. jess phillips would be smearing her as a rapist.

We need to keep pushing this petition otherwise all our efforts will be for nothing. We need to keep fighting from every angle and this is one of them. Can you all please share this petition. If you can and haven't already please sign the petition. And ask anyone you know that will sign it.

Acquaintance walks by and sees me with my neck in the guillotine, my execution minutes away. "Hey, Carly! Haven't seen you in forever! How are you?" "Um," I say, "not well. Government's going to eradicate me. You haven't heard?" "Oh, I don't pay attention to politics," they say. "Take care!"

Normal people: You should ban child torture Labour Party: Well, we met some people from the How to Torture Your Child Discord and they said a ban would actually be *more* harmful Centrists: Truly this is a complex issue 🤔 There are no easy answers 😞

This is absolutely insane Trying to hide research and science they don't like. Modern day book burning

Kier Starmer's Labour party have all but brought back Section 28

Find it very annoying that in light of the horrible shit that’s happening to trans people in the US, the narrative of cis progressives is still “he won’t stop at trans people!!” when it is actually bad even if he did stop there as trans people are, in fact, people

I don’t see why anyone would be surprised that he isn’t repulsed by a comparison of his government to Thatcher’s when making the puberty blocker ban permanent is (at least in my opinion) the biggest LGBTQ+ rights rollback by a UK government since Thatcher’s section 28.

Please consider digging, the current decisions have taken a flawed system and replaced it with no system petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70...

ive seen a few editors asking for this line of "why trumps EO about trans people is bad for everyone, actually!!!" as if its not bad enough that it hurts trans people. no no. we need to hear about how it harms cis people to give a single fucking shit!!!! *cough* @lucymorgan.bsky.social *cough*

transphobia is a key component of the contemporary fascist movement. instead of opposing it labour has fully embraced it – to the point whereby they’re making up ‘science’ to justify their horrific policies. labour have made themselves an obstacle in the fight against fascism.

And he went straight after trans people. Those images of book burnings? They were at a trans clinic, and the books were the biggest library of information about trans people ever assembled. THIS IS STILL NOT RECOGNISED ENOUGH, and is obviously very relevant to what's happening today.

“You are your gender regardless of what an executive order says” Dude, I’m not upset because I feel ;w; invalid ;w;. I’m upset because I don’t want to be thrown in jail on trumped up charges for being trans, then get v-coded in a men’s prison. A path I increasingly worry we’re headed down

If you're deliberately misgendering Caitlin Jenner with glee, you're going on the moderation list. Evil shitheads can be trans too. It doesn't give you the go-ahead to be transphobic.

Of course @theguardian.com coverage of Trump's anti-trans executive order is reduced to one line that uncritically calls it an order against "gender ideology". Sick of waiting for our media to treat an existential threat seriously.

Maybe it’s because I’m not a newspaper columnist but I genuinely cannot fathom how you can actually think “this guy is a misogynist, racist, and a sexual predator, but he’s right about trans people” without any self-reflection on whether you might be wrong about us

This is not the time, Vue Cinemas

Despite being rejected by the health boards of 4 countries, described as "ideological nonsense", described by a Yale professor as "having conclusions not supported by it's own data", and now an Australian court declaring Cass is not an expert, the UK Gov is STILL saying "Cass is the best".

Obviously the government have just spewed out the generic response to this. But I do think it's still worth just constantly pointing out how everything they've said here is wrong. It wasn't independent, it wasn't evidence based, it is a scandal

Every UK party that’s going to be anywhere near government in the near future has explicitly declared that my rights should be put on a bonfire. Starmer. Badenoch. Farage. Their position is that I’m less than human. The ECHR was created to protect people in countries like this at times like these.

Under Meta’s new content moderation policy, certain online attacks are banned *unless* the target is LGBTQ, in which case the attacks are allowed. Yes you read that right: There’s a queer exception to Meta’s restrictions on attacks on people, specifically: 🧵

10 years ago I was at a NYE party where the host was too drunk to remember what song we're supposed to sing, so we sang Que Sera Sera instead And now I do it every year

maybe they should report on the fact labour has introduced the first anti-lgbt+ legislation since section 28. that’s all i need to know about them.

Isn't it curious that between Stephen Fry and Ian McKellen the one that has actually been an active LGBT rights advocate also supports trans people and the one who doesn't support trans people also has obvious disdain for queer culture in general.

Horrifying how anti LGBT the current Labour government is. These changes will harm so many people

I lived through Section 28, and impact it had on so many young people's lives. Labour's stance on trans children will be remembered with the same horror and disbelief we have for that piece of legislation now. This is a policy based on a minority opinion over fact, and will harm trans young people.

If things on Earth aren't in space, then things on Mars aren't in space. so get your heads straight

Labour health secretary Wes Streeting has permanently banned puberty blockers for trans children. There is no evidence they cause harm, which is why they are still available for cis children.

I know I’m late for the spotify wrapped talk but I don’t have spotify - so I thought I’d just mention some albums released this year that I thought were fantastic:

more generally, many cis ppl want trans ppl to "compromise" on virtually every trans-related issue. we have "gone too far" by simply existing & wanting to freely participate in society. to these ppl, "compromise" means us disappearing from society to some degree or other. fuck compromise.

I'm not on twitter anymore, but this tweet from 2 years ago is sadly more accurate than ever
