No. I’m saying that if you send a large majority of the federal workforce home you run the risk of making it much worse. A shutdown and designating people “non-essential” hastens everything.
comment in response to post
Then you’re gonna have a shutdown in which the "non-essential" workers are invited to not return.

Ok. Your turn…what’s gonna change from a shutdown? Do they have the fortitude and messaging capabilities to stay together. I get it. I wish it were different. But you go to war with the army you have, not the army you want. Do you trust these folks to be a legislative bulwark and not buckle?

It’s a double bind. They’re fucked coming and going. Is that better? I think wearing the mantle of shutting the government down, and they will, is a bad thing. Period. Full stop. Shutting the govt down accomplishes nothing but making some Dems feel better. It earns no policy wins and harms the party

I’m not sure there are any. But I know the downside of shutdown is worse. House has the votes for the CR. You think that gaggle of Chip Roy led weasels are gonna vote yes again on a Dem friendlier version? Hell no. This is the CR they want. They’re in the majority. Being nihilistic solves nothing

Voting against the CR budget is a perfect example of confusing activity for achievement.

Least dad thing I’ve done this week. Realizing that the Crocs were only because my toes have been winterizing, I’m now preparing for Chaco season at the nail spa.

No numbers. But I did pick up a box of Honey Bunches of Oats that were on sale for less than $2. Felt nostalgic to buy food so inexpensive. My family has never had this cereal and the cereal will likely remain uneaten after I try one bowl.

I went to Episcopal church camp growing up. Which is probably the closest thing I could get to an atheist camp in Mississippi. Also, we played tetherball, snuck cigarettes and tried to touch breasts.

I liked the three separate times people said Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss were eliminated from the playoff. Only to finally be eliminated from the playoffs a 4th time. Four times I got to watch Ole Miss fans bitch and moan. The whole tableau was glorious. Just glorious. Ten out of ten. No notes.
