That’s a reductio ad absurdam argument. I never said, and the writer of the Atlantic article never said that no man should ever be corrected. But you reaching for reductio shows the weakness of your critique.

3. “Diversity” is an ideological trap for the left. It does not inherently promote solid epistemology. 4chan and X are more “diverse” than Twitter was, but that just means the internet is more full of mis- and disinformation.

2. “Independent journalists” still have to eat, and without institutional support, they have to be the marketing and sales department as well as the researcher and fact checker. This is a recipe for more, not less corruption.

1. Heterogeneity is not a virtue in and of itself. At its worst, it’s disorganized chaos, and leads to the attention seeking behavior that has turned the internet into an outrage machine.

New media are tech platforms owned by the same people who own the legacy media. If you think individuals with no editorial support are more authentic than professionals, you are buying into a PR campaign pushed by Zuckerberg, Musk, Bezos el al.
