As David Cay Johnson pointed out when you see generals being replaced with people out of order that is a sign of the coming dictatorship.

Yes, alienate your base to win an election. Who else are they going to vote for?
Oh, wait…our base stayed home and we lost the election again! Who could have seen this coming?
Let’s move further right to where the voters are!

It would be ‘yes’ because the conspiracy theory is that the FBI tricked the J6ers into performing violent acts and that the J6ers are innocent patriots trying to protect the country from tyranny.

If memory serves he did get banned for a short time for that. Musk unbanned him. I guess this is a case of ‘too big to ban.’

It’s not helpful to post such information as it allows them to play victim. There is a right-wing ecosystem that will be more than happy to advance such propaganda.

Trump doesn’t have a plan he doesn’t have the attention span to make one.

A billionaire and his unvetted flunkies downloading everyone’s financial data in an unsecured way. What could go wrong?

Trump’s immigration policies are going to make everyone less safe. Undocumented immigrants who are victims and/or witnesses to crimes will not come forward for fear of being deported.

Read the first post in the thread. It’s about a proposed federal law on voting.

This is correct. I deleted my previous post. Thanks for the correction.

I have personal experience with immigration and I probably googled it years ago, so I am quite aware of the country caps. Mexico and the Philippines are also affected if I remember correctly.

No, people from India are not eligible for the visa lottery.

Decades at least if possible at all. I may be a bit too pessimistic.

Let’s not forget that he also voted for the Laken Riley Act that will put people in detention based only on an accusation of theft with no way to clear their name and force actual criminals to be released. Not to mention allowing state AGs to dictate federal immigration policies via the courts.

Won’t work as it will cut into their policy of racially profiling black and brown people.

Can they file a lawsuit against ICE?

Trump also made negative remarks about the CHIPS Act which gives money to domestic chips manufacturers to establish new factories in the US.

It basically boils down to wanting to express their racist opinions without consequences.

The press will dutifully fulfill their role as stenographers for the Trump Administration.

The chapter on Homeland Security in Project 2025 targets parole on pages 143 (claims it’s illegal) and suggests that Congress should pass legislation to put strict limits on parole (pages 146 and 149). See below.

It seems that Trump’s agenda is largely based on Project 2025, so the answer is a definite yes to that (see page 145 below where it calls for ending TPS, the program that gives them legal status).

The Democrats should have wrapped the Laken Riley Act around the GOP’s head. Once 10 year olds get put in immigration detention for false accusations of stealing candy bars with no way out and the foreign policy disasters caused by AGs in red states the Democrats will get all of the blame.
comment in response to

This is going to boomerang on them and fellow Democrats once the terrible consequences of any policy they sign on to becomes clear. They will get all the blame. The Republicans will then demand even worse legislation to fix the situation. Wasn’t helping to pass the Laken Riley Act bad enough?

Why can’t it be both?

FYI, this was part of the plan of Project 2025 (page 142). See below.

This policy change is mentioned on page 142 of Project 2025.

IMHO, there are two types of Trump voters: the straight up racists and the ones that racist policies don’t bother them enough to oppose those policies. This may be a distinction without a difference.

This illustrates everything about MAGA, namely that it is reactionary, childish, vindictive and cruel as well as mindlessly devoted to their cult leader.
Oh, let’s not forget racist to the core.

In my experience there is some ignorance of the racist implications of people’s actions, but the phenomenon you highlighted from the article is more the desire to be explicitly racist without consequences.
