Again, if the Mad King can just disappear legal residents on personal whim, he can do it for any citizen of the Republic. And if he can do that, without consequence, then I have no idea why you still believe the 2026/28 elections are going to be free, fair, & competitive.

What Putnam misses is that we're struggling to form community because we've been forced to DIY society. Without unions or a decent safety net, most Americans are caught in precarity and have to put so much energy into paid work and unpaid care for family that they have nothing left for community.

While the State Department CAN revoke *visas* with very little legal process involved, stripping someone of a green card is done by DHS (not the State Department) and requires filing formal charges alleging a violation of immigration law and a removal hearing in front of an immigration judge.

Because, paradoxically, authors like bell hooks agree also see the systemic unfairness that the manosphere bros complain about. That system of unfair treatment and expectations, that starts hurting men from when they are young boys, is called patriarchy. And there is a way out.

The Appointments Clause is sometimes described (by SCOTUS no less) as a fulcrum of presidential power. But it’s actually an important limitation on it. The Pres isn’t a king and *therefore* his appointees must be democratically scrutinized and approved. So, this is absurdly antidemocratic stuff.
