And they drowned out the voice I wanted to hear
They can't make me hang out in the ruins
They cannot make me want to listen to them
And they can't elbow their way into my timeline here
I don't need their abuse
If I want it, it's 24/7 on MSM
Just like it is okay to walk away from them in public spaces
If I don’t want someone seeing my stuff nor engaging with me in any way, too bad so sad if other people don’t like it
We are refugees from post-truth forces that dominate mainstream unidirectional media—text, audio and video—media that wants our votes and bucks but has no interest in our voices. Bluesky allows us to exercise the human stuff—to cry, swear, thank, observe. Most crucially, to think.
1. How do I bulk-delete posts (I’m not a coder, so many suggested options don’t work for me)
2. Curious the reason accts can’t be private.
Thx! Great write-up!
2. Is on the roadmap, but is much trickier due to the fact that this is built on an open protocol not a proprietary silo.
So, a mailing list?
What would be the point exactly to create a closed loop - for what is effectively a group DM?
🤷🏾
I’m not here for a gajillion followers/numbers.
I’m here for discussions of what’s going on in the world. And for news clips someone posted, which I may have missed.
Mike has pointed out that it might in the future, so until whenever that is.. 🤷🏾
is that a reasonable analogy, or have I misunderstood?
Musk's arrival was a tipping point - the realisation that the right-wing trolls infesting the platform weren't there for 'good faith' discussion, but solely to provoke, distort, and dominate.
They KNOW the premise is wrong 🙄
By failing to call them out on their real reasons you're simply amplifying the argument they're using to distract from what their real issue with Bluesky is
All of the "bluesky is dying" media have somethings in common that the Bluesky supporting media doesn't share - and they're related to 1) revenue sources, 2) independent editorial control, and 3) historic media gatekeeping of information.
Ok, look, I'll take any space, but can you at least get me above the fold? 😂
(Ad-tech industry vet here, I know the deep knowledge) 1/5
Critics keep using "echo chamber" when what they really mean is Bluesky 🦋 users can easily set and maintain healthy communication boundaries, which cuts down on the vitriol they mistakenly believe is inherent on social media.
Thought this was going to be about Jake Tapper's Biden book.
In the public square of ideas I can walk away and ignore you because I have judged you to not have anything of value to say. Like if you constantly lie and use misinformation
Bluesky is a refuge from this effluent from the affluent.
Oh, sorry, got carried away.
Bluesky people on the whole are smart and have excellent bullshit detectors. We’re better informed than the elites believed us to be. They are just now finding out and that makes us a threat to their status quo.
The way I have my Bluesky set up, I would never have learned he had joined except for all the noise it generated which found its way to some of the accounts I have on my main list. I don’t use feeds. Not even the following feed. Too much chaff.
If you try to force me to talk to Nazis at the water cooler, I'll just bring my water bottle and sit at my desk instead.
