this is a riff that i just fundamentally disagree with. you should absolutely put your name on the checks. put your name on the buildings. have them etch it in the fucking foundation. that’s politics baby!

Obama: Joe Biden sent you a check during the pandemic, just like I gave people relief during the great recession. The thing is, we didn't put our names on it, because it wasn't about feeding our egos.

politics should not be about persons, but ethics, moral & science.
everything else is crap.
Take credit for doing good things! You can use that good will to win elections and pass more policy! It’s not about abstract norms.
Keeping that information away from voters isn't just bad from a strategic point of view. It's missing the entire point of democracy!
All four of Idaho’s (R) congress critters, Sens. Mike Crapo and Jim Risch and Reps. Russ Fulcher and Mike Simpson — in a fit of partisan spite
Sen Jim Risch (pictured) voted against it as did Idaho’s other senator, Mike Crapo. Mayor only Dem in picture.

It's a great reminder that "oh yeah, having nice things like this requires planning, by actual people, and we should keep that in mind when voting. This doesn't just happen on its own."
The Democratic party is afraid to tout Obamacare and the Inflation Reduction Act because they are worried about the debate club judges taking away points.
Be aggressive, people, in fucking everything.
Anyone can coopt the "ACA".
For that matter, they should cheerlead the hell out of Obamacare to point of being ridiculous and stop the half measures if selling achievement.
this also goes for DMing a D&D campaign, incidentally

(It was for politics. Of COURSE it was for politics.)
Google his daughter's wedding. SO like Trump. https://www.reddit.com/r/HistoryAnecdotes/comments/6y7yes/boss_tweed_throws_an_opulent_wedding_for_his/
No one in Cook County passes up this opportunity. No one.
any dollar that comes in, anything that goes up, on goes your name
take credit for every god damn thing
"Head down Bouie Avenue, take a right at Bouie Lane. Go through the Jamelle Tunnel, then it should be right there. If you go over the Jamelle Bouie Bridge you've gone too far."
But it is the progress, the result of millions pushing, that matters.
Identify who pushed for, and who against.
But commemorate the work itself.
There's a fundamental difference between self-aggrandizement and talking up your accomplishments and I absolutely cannot stand this sober adult in the room bullshit Democrats repeatedly do
The closest thing we've had to it was when the Democratic party loudly taking credit for the new deal made them popular enough that their opponents had to be really overtly nice to them if they ever wanted to be elected.
"I notice that now that people like it, they don't call it Obamacare anymore" he said at the DNC, lol.
I was already voting D, but this would have been hard to reconcile if I wasn't.

That's justice, baby.
I'm not necessarily a fan, and I also don't think it does much, but it's whatever.
I have talked to so many friends and neighbors who complain that they're paying taxes and being asked for tax increases but have no idea where the money goes.
Mmm.
Name it.

Aw snap. It’s a meta link but the original post was a tiktok
I'm not certain who put it up, though. It's a 20-year-maintenance of a major city street that has it locked it down to one lane for the two years.
