the "esc" key on a keyboard is a holdover from early-'90s personal computers. on some models it would dispense a can of escargot out of one of the unused drive bays. they put it in the corner so you wouldn't press it by accident because you only got three of them. i pushed it once and got grounded

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Escargot
Escargot
Escargone.
nerds: "best I can do yer is make the easiest to hit key on the keyboard close your app"
But there's already a pause button on the keyboard that doesn't pause anything... if that doesn't pause, then what exactly does it do? Did it temporarily half the process of dispensing escargot if you changed your mind?
You only make a mistake like that once!
Cute. But did you get it also with butter and garlic?
conversely the "scroll lock" button used to keep the cup holders in the out position on models which had timed cup holder retraction built in.
"this%30is%30a%30space" should appear as "this is a space" in the top bar. Your browser can't be bothered. You can knock up a browser extension to fix this. You still want it encoded outside the browser bar though.

I almost said "me too"!, that would have been inappropriate, wouldn't it?

"Need to order a new cup holder!"
Fun!
and then I immediately found out how right I was. Bon appétit!
But it was a holdover from late 50s / early 60s teletype machines (which used it to spew out yards of paper tape in Baudot code encoding the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy.)

Then you probably were not really using it correctly.
Clever!
