Because they're terrified of accusations they're betraying Brexit. It's the same in so many areas. They're hiding their successes and yelling about their weaknesses.

It is remarkable how little effort Starmer has put into making the case for his renegotiation. No “Bloomberg” speech, no policy papers. An interview three days before deal day is the first outing of substance. If his pro-EU coalition gives him no credit for it, it’s because hes asked for none.

A government with over 400 MPs and more than four years to go. Pathetic.
If he’s not, however, would any of this look any different than if he was?
Surely far better to come out swinging and shout about why the improvements are needed?
The question is how do you get there without the next PM being Farage.
Polarising the debate is not a strategy that benefits progressive parties.
What poles?
Leave won the referrendum, Farage subsequently won British politcs by the looks of it.
*Brexit, not Starmer.

Last week they delivered trade deals, they talked about them
This week, they delivered an immigration white paper, they talked about it.
Next week, they deliver the UK/EU reset deal, they will talk about it
Also Labour didn’t make immigration the dominant story, the media did.
The constant lack of accountability from media types on what THEY chose to report gets quite grating
Labour published the immigration white paper to great fanfare. Starmer made a speech and held a press conference about it.
Of course the media were going to concentrate on it! It wasn’t their fault that he came over as a racist cunt.
The government will announce the EU reset to great fanfare. They will make speeches about it.
Each week different things announced to great fanfare with speeches made 🤷🏻♂️
Why doesn’t the media give Ed Davey’s views the same amount of coverage?
Lib Dem’s have got a lot more MP’s than Reform

Shall we all just stop doing polls for a bit?
*Like me, but not me. I left the UK as a "citizen of nowhere", so before things degraded to this level. 😬
Voyers may think Brexit was a mistake now but history tells us that they don't like admitting they were wrong.
Would you rather have closer ties with the EU or to rub Brexiteer noses in it?
(i.e. they're a bit thick).

This was always going to be the route to a closer relationship with the EU.
It’s as never going to be a job for Tory antagonism to full rejoining in one step
Whereas Tories/Reform would just continue the antagonism and push us further and further away
Closer ties with the EU is more easily achieved if you do not insist on Brexiteers admitting they were wrong.
A large proprtion of Brexit Voters don't usually vote unless you invent an existential reason for them to do so.
Why pick a battlefield where we have already lost once?
Polarising voters does not work out well for progressive parties.
Lack of independent media helped Murdoch’s empire + Musk’s ownership of Twitter to put a convicted criminal back in the White House & r/wing media in UK are largely responsible for the success of Reform.
Blame, shame the culprits. Boycott r/wing media outlets, businesses
I blame McSweeney, oh and the twonks who listen to him!!
If they told people how many unbuilt Hospitals or Rail Lines this brexit was costing us in lost Tax Revenues & Growth each
They won last time and followed up by making Boris Johnson Prime Mininster.
You really want a re-match?
You can't please both sides of the argument. You're either pro xenophobia and isolationism, or not.
Makes perfect sense…
I have a sneaking suspicion in the Reform/Trump era more liberal folks are looking for the right cause to gather around.
In the "do you want to get closer to (a) US (b) China or (c) EU trading blocks" question, it's a bit of a no-brainer.
Why are they so bad at it?
It's almost like they are deliberately trying to sabotage themselves.
we need to make our peace with it.
They're being hung out to dry in some sections but they couldn't responsibly ignore Cass, the Supreme Court or the 2024 net migration figures
This review was part of the original TCA.
But if they fail to tell anyone then politically - what is the point?
So much less nonsense & drama with lab v. Tories & yet the way discourse is in multiple areas you would think the country was burning down.
Why government need to be a lot, lot smarter at comms.

As for elevating fascists & the fascism-curious to status of 'hero voters'… 🤢
Who else would you vote as a Remainer in FPTP?
It worked, and Labour were brutally crushed by the SNP in the 2015 election.
Don’t gift him that!
