The major networks should have a streaming service where they just rebroadcast their real-time programming from Saturday mornings (or Thursday nights or whatever) in random years from the 1980s and 1990s.

Todays news literally rebroadcasts 25% from the day before. It’s the craziest shit. Has anyone else noticed that? Especially human interest stories. Like..really? That’s all the news that happened in the last 24 hrs. You got nothing else?
Trumps ignorance led to the death of tens of thousands of Americans even while Fauci did his best to convince Americans to get vaccinated and not drink bleach.
Odd. Some people think you're talking about news programming, whereas I assumed entertainment and came in here to point out they might not have the rights because the producing studio owns them and/or has licensed them elsewhere.
NBC would absolutely do this and CBS would not, so we’re stuck with an hour too much of weekend TODAY shows, remarkably bad IP cash outs, and the uninteresting Saved By The Bell episodes.
the problem with that it would expose all the lies over the years where they said something was conspiracy and now we know it to be true... that would not turn out well for them
I’d like to see Walter Cronkite reruns, when just the news was reported.
All 3 majors in the am devote time to selling their “ exclusive bargain deals” 🤮
Not unlike Monumental replaying the glory years of the Wizards and, yeah, I'll flip back and forth once in a while to try and recapture what a functional basketball team looked like.
My 12 year old self would approve and I’d be there for the Friday night CBS lineup from 1979 (The Incredible Hulk, Dukes of Hazzard, Dallas); the pinnacle of network tv.
Friday nights-Sundays from the 70s - from the Midnight Special, through Saturday morning cartoons, The Wide World of Sports, finishing up with Disney Sunday evening.
I feel like a dinosaur when I start noticing the things that had their debut were during my lifetime! And WHY ARE THE 90'S RETRO?? And why is "Martha Quinn starting t9 look her age" and she's like 7 years older than me! Surely I can't be old! Right...I'll wait.
Same dudes who ran the shows then run them now. They just flatter themselves they’ve become more hip, because they once took photos on a cruise with Snoop Dogg.
While this will never happen (unfortunately), Amazon freevee has tons of streaming channels with some Saturday morning cartoons, sitcoms from the 80s, and even network soaps like Knots Landing and Falcon Crest. Call it comfort food TV if you want, but it's nice to have the option to watch again.
Right? It’s Saturday morning, where’s my Josie and the Pussycats? I could watch while eating leftover chips and dips from my parent’s cocktail party last night…best Saturday morning ever! (Later I’ll load up their empties in my wagon and exchange them at the general store for candy $.)
Yes, please. Let me relive Saturday mornings with cartoons, sugary cereal, and questionable toy commercials. I’ll even sit through the same 90s deodorant ads just for authenticity. Take my money, networks!
Not just Saturday morning cartoons, but can we get Saturday night Nickelodeon, SNICK, from the 90s back, too? Are You Afraid of the Dark and Roundhouse were real bangers.
My favorite month is October, but December is also good. As long as I'm inside, anyway. May your December bring you much cheer and a happy holiday season!
I'm sure the toxic nostalgia crowd would find a way to ruin that just like they've ruined Youtube nostalgia related content with their rose colored glasses recollection of times that never were.
That would be a blast! A throwback to the good ol' days of Saturday morning cartoons, TGIF, and all the gems we grew up with. Imagine flicking on a streaming service and getting a random blast from the past. What era would you want to tune into first?
Where I grew up, the tv station owner would hijack the feed late at night and do shit like this. Hate the movie? No worries, here’s the station owner reading the Magna Carta.
24 hour news is 1 hour of news and 23 hours of propaganda. I have already deleted them form my YouTube tv live lineup. They got 4 years of content ahead of them, like they thought they wanted, but they lost me. I’m done with them. And Anderson can crawl back to what’s left of Biltmore.
(I know this is more a theoretical wish for a structured and formal thing but I’m always pleasantly surprised how many videos there are on YouTube of people’s entire VHS tapes of, like, a morning of ABC’s Saturday morning cartoons from 1986 or a CBS Sunday Night Movie from 1993.)
On one hand there is a tiny voice in me that says it’s a little sad I have so much attachment to commercialism from my youth. On the other hand “ROBOTS IN DISGUIIIISE!”, bitches.
A number of the streaming platforms have a TON of old shows!!! I found 3 British shows, with a futuristic theme, from the early ‘60s with marionettes!! Fireball XL-5!! I couldn’t believe it! In think the Freevee stream from Amazon has the most. Enjoy! 😁🤓
Thanks for being here! Check out "INA" on Youtube. You can watch old French newsreels from the early 60s (when, arguably, things first started to go wrong for us).
I joked with my kids that they would never experience getting up at 6am waiting for the broadcast day to start before watching Saturday morning cartoons.

All 3 majors in the am devote time to selling their “ exclusive bargain deals” 🤮
And select few who do, don't have the archival video to broadcast
