I kept my account to avoid it being hijacked, but left a message in my profile pointing to other places to reach me.
I disagree. People are trying to cope, not need to demand self-flagellation.
I burned my online presence once before, and guess what, nobody cared, nobody had my back. By leaving X, I did it again, but this time I don't care.
But I will never demand that kind of erasure from anyone.
There's no longer a grey area, I think. This is war, and in my case, it's getting pretty personal.
the easy thing to do is just leave. But it feels like there's more influence to be had (given a good number of existing followers).
Make it expensive for them to censor you. 😁
Maybe I should delete all my tweets. I don't really know. Some of my blog posts point to old tweets of mine. I'd have to come up with a solution to that.
If you really want to fight back, write one last tweet to your followers asking them to donate to a group like @eff.org —

This nuked all the posts and followers, maybe not what you want though.
You can also change your banner over there too. That's what I'd done! (There some cool "I've moved to bsky" banner generators floating around!)
I think helping people understand the value of retaking control of their feeds & building on/using tools we control is huge.
Basically, why this goes beyond the (extremely valid) political and social reasons folks are leaving
Other than that... I promoted this place in the last few tweets, and then stopped doing anything.
