Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the Bluesky team and how impressive what they’re doing is? They’re a team of 20 who are adding a million users a day right now and scaling up with aplomb! Incredible

We have now hit 16 million users. We're looking like we might onboard another million today, we'll see. Regardless we'll be far past 16.5 million I'm quite certain.

Not helping to tone down my general bluesky fanboyism over here...
Gaming industry, take notes 💀

The job the Bluesky team has done in terms of performance and stability is superhuman.
They really are a shoe string crew
people don’t see my posts but hey, still postin
Getting it working it is tough at first, as you struggle to get it right.
Then it works pretty well.
Then, when it scales big and fast, that's when the rivets start popping out.
Well done, BlueSky team.

Much love
Is there a blueskydivers starter pack?
We appreciate the hell out of what you’re doing here!!😎👍💙
Carry On!
Excelsior ‼️
Bluesky did everything in a considered way.
Built the system.
Very deliberately did not overload it by restricting users while they tested it & got their shit together.
Then were very able to scale up when the time was right.
Well done & respect to the background teams at every level
Top team here!
Hell a 20 person team, I think the bluesky team as a whole deserves a little night of appreciation
We have to keep in mind that it has no ads, no income, only costs.
FWIW I think our ISPs are a bit happier now. Like 90% of the wonkiness today is not even our infra 😢
Fun fact, every continent has a species, too. they're everywhere

Load bearing "useless" network switch
That was... not a fun day
Grateful to be part of your well deserved growth 😍
Not sure I would change much 🦋
> PostgreSQL didn’t scale with the site’s growth, so it was time to migrate. The team chose ScyllaDB and SQLite.
Thanks for sharing
Just sayin.
Bsky team needs a lot of pizza followed by a bonus for working non stop while under heavy stress. We know how it is.
They're working on a subscription model but so far nothing is ready afaik
big props to them and also kudos for the protocol design

and atproto's basically bluesky's attempt to bake in a nasty poison pill for anyone who tries.

I wonder who's in charge of the load testing?? 👀
It was OOMING and crashing every 5 minutes all day long even with 48GB of RAM lol... Now it's happy :)
unless it’s BGP
I get to break software and fry hardware at my other job so load testing has a special little place in my heart.
The Bluesky "Team of 20" is doing very impressive work, to say the least. You ladies and gents are heroes of Democracy and free speech. Bravo! 👏💯
Thank you so much to all the Bluesky team❣️

If Xitter got 5 million users all at once, it would crash so hard that Space Karen might actually feel a legitimate emotion beyond "self service narcissism."
That is going to stick
Thank you!
Wouldn't it make sense to scale with more compute, SSD drives, and network bandwidth? ...
Seriously, it's remarkable -and I'm a grateful Muskerberg refugee.
I hope growth doesn’t change what they have here! 👏👏👏
