I think perhaps they are also one of the last pieces of consumer electronics which is unavoidably electromechanical. making something mechanical which works perfectly on zero maintenance for practically no money is hard!

i feel like we have such vastly different tastes that we can never agree lol. i get annoyed at the primitive climate control in my 15 year old toyota work car because i’d rather the old 3 dial setup to manually set fan/temp/airflow mode. zero touchscreens in any of my cars!

yeah well i'm real lazy so i didn't wanna have to take the chain off to clean and lube it... like you'd probably save time in the long run because the wax wouldn't hold onto dirt like oil does, but... you know.
