The first results of the TEMPO study, presented at the EMDR congress of the Dutch EMDR association. - Only 10 EMDR sessions - Significant reduction of PTSD and personality disorder symptoms - 44% remission from personality disorder (after 3 months) - No SAEs, only 5% drop-out

Now that traumababble is part of popular culture, this isn’t even surprising anymore

Well said, @simine.com! This is what has to happen. I look forward to the time when journal "quality" and prestige align with transparency. When only transparent research is eligible for publication in those journals and non-transparent research is relegated elsewhere.

My editorial on how journals can earn trust. We often use journal names as proxies for quality. This is bad bc it’s not valid. But it could be. Editors could make journal name a valid signal. And we could place value on journals that show us how they do that. journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....

Pretty huge news: Rightwing AFD party (2nd strongest overall & strongest in many areas) now officially classified as "right-wing extremist org" in 🇩🇪, based on a 3y investigation of Germany’s domestic intelligence agency. Reasons incl party's ethnic-based ideology & discrimination vs immigrants.

Impressive RCT by @toshi-frkw.bsky.social and colleagues! 🔥

Published today in Nature Medicine. In one of the world’s largest RCTs of its kind (n=3,936), a smartphone app teaching 5 key cognitive-behavioral therapy skills improved subthreshold depression—and the effects lasted 6 months. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Very pleased to see this paper now published in Psychological Reports, with @marcellawoud.bsky.social, Katharina Westermann, & Jürgen Margraf: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/... /1

New interview on the value of exploratory research. "My brief explanation of this crisis is that researchers didn't say ‘I found something interesting’, but ‘I found exactly what my fantastic theory had predicted, heureka’. And then they gave a TED talk." #PsychSciSky #AcademicSky 🧪

The digital therapeutic priovi reduces severity of Borderline symptoms and and might even reduce suicide attempts. That is the result of a study we have now published in The Lancet Psychiatry. authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S...

Adding a digital self-guided intervention to usual care decreased suicide attempts in BPD patients by 67% and reduced symptoms - great results!

In a large sample (N=240) of self-harming patients with BPD receiving DBT, decreases in PTSD severity at one timepoint corresponded with decreases in BPD severity at the subsequent timepoint, but there was minimal evidence for the reverse relationship. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

well said, @jdmiller.bsky.social. I find the resistance to transparency the most disturbing and damning thing about our field. I get the feeling that we can have your undisclosed researcher degrees of freedom only when we pry them from your cold dead fingers.

This resonates with me deeply. I'm continuously amazed at the resistance to - active and passive - adopting open science practices. So many colleagues who just couldn't give a shit less.

Non-response to treatment is common for patients with PTSD. The lowest non-response rates is found for trauma-focused treatments, but even the non-response rates for these treatments is substantial. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1155/...

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

Is there something like post-conference blues? Anyway, who is coming to the SPR in Kraków this year? #dpk2025
