Evergreen statement for politics in general these days

A two month and counting April Fools joke will do that to you! Congrats though, pleased to see you get a role!

5% seems genuinely insane to me? Maybe 3% tops.

And then sometimes you’re planning for a probable bad day, then feel great but have no plans at all to take advantage of that! Very convenient

White smoke, just happened

Important to get uh, volume, in one’s coffee!

We couldn’t go like 15 minutes without it??

Would’ve done a more modern version of Freelancer tbh

I’m perfectly happy adding another JJ to the list!

One day I pray we all stop hearing from JJ. Like, he deletes his accounts and retires into a quiet life of Buddhist contemplation. Canada needs it

Planes/airports and medical establishments just make sense, both for protection and avoiding spreading your own stuff. Never gotten sick after a flight since 2021 and I’ve flown a decent number of times!

I appreciate being able to see people speak in this sort of content, it actually helps me maintain focus!

Especially if the same happens in Australia too

Time to go to bed and let the results play out, not playing the Atlantic Canada game again!
comment in response to post
Seems a little early no? Took hours for the picture to clear up in Atlantic Canada alone.

Thanks!! Here’s to 2026 for you!

Is this something they can do? Wouldn’t contempt be an inherent power for the judiciary, or at least would this not be a huge violation of separation of powers?

You’re right about 2019, guess I’m still a little groggy and looked up the wrong date!

Everyone should endeavour to enjoy their life the way Palpatine clearly does

Maybe he managed to negotiate one with Tevinter too

Incredible what a difference it makes!

This is such an insult to the intelligence of voters. A parliament cannot bind future parliaments—you are just wasting everyone’s time by pretending they can. Wasting yours in the drafting process and the next government’s when they easily repeal the ā€œrequirementā€.
comment in response to post
Agreed! I think part of that comes down to the Senate/HOL having objectively less power than the House of Commons, as well as a narrow purpose. Most people (not polisci nerds like myself) don’t even think about it. The US founders stuffed a ton of power and responsibility into their Senate OTOH
comment in response to post
This is the nature of the Canadian senate as well. Our term for it is ā€œsober second thoughtā€.
comment in response to post
The ā€œstatementā€ ends up being another Alito WSJ piece

A takeaway I’m getting from this is the CPC are basically maintaining their support from the last two elections, but have completely cannibalized the PPC, bringing them up to where they are now. I feel a little better that they don’t seem to be massively expanding their appeal
comment in response to post
That really cleared things up for me!

Simultaneously horrifying and embarrassing

I don’t know if humanity is ready for it

Mischaracterizing the relief sought is something I’ve seen from this makeup of the court multiple times. I find it very disturbing.

I too want to burn the world down when my paper straw breaks, but I keep that to myself instead of threatening secession

Good luck Corey, I’m not in Confederation anymore but I’m hoping for your success!

We’re lucky they’re this incompetent, because I think it would’ve been extremely easy for them to do the autocracy with no pushback at all, between the media and the bar being in hell

Oh this is amazing, I had no idea they did a Broadway production! My family is descended from him, so it’s always nice to see these things. Thanks for sharing!

He definitely didn’t write this, so I’ll be interested to see the readout from Carney’s team!

And it’ll be a particular nightmare if their foreign policy alignments become polarized as well. Imagine each party permanently explicitly aligning themselves in opposite ways. I think that’s not unlikely at this point

Gonna go exchange my literacy for something less psychologically damaging thanks

I’ve loved the books for 20 years—the Rhuidean sequence was absolutely outstanding
