Hello Bluesky gardening friends! π± I would love to hear your favorite plant PAIRINGS, especially if one or both are USA native plants. Canceling our yard service this year bcuz they make it impossible to grow wildflowers- everything got whacked! Prioritizing pollinators over tidyness in more areas.

A favorite of mine: Green and Gold with ferns.

I haven't experienced the blooms yet, but the plant itself has been pretty even through the winter and the deer and rabbits have left it alone. If it blooms nice I'll get more.

I love starting with some basics:
some kinda goldenrod (Solidago juncea?)
some kinda eupatorium (Eupatorium hyssopifolium?)
some kinda mountainmint (Pycnanthemum tenuifolium?)
Some asters (Rudbeckia hirta, Symphyotrichum spp.)
... continued
Some warm season grasses (maybe aim for 30% to 60% graminoid cover to mimic our Piedmont meadows) like Sorghastrum nutans, Andropogon virginicus, Schizachyrium scoparium, Tridens flavus, Coleataenia anceps,
Cool season grass cover(Elymus glabriflorus)
And once you have the basics, you can fill in gaps, add diversity

there all great for pollinators in MA β¦ get a burst of color in spring they usually die off midsummer so I switch out for other things later
