I’m not even a Shedeur person. Made sense to me that he slipped out of the first. But there’s no good reason why a team like PIT should pass on a QB option there and take a defensive backup

I have become increasingly confident that the only teams that will take Shedeur will already have an established star at QB, and a history of taking players to try and get ROI later on as they try to rehab whatever image NFL GMs have of him.
At this point I don’t get it. The potential for a big payout is so much higher for Sanders than for anyone else being drafted at this point…borderline UDFAs.
PIT in particular can do this at late round value and still sign Rodgers (speaking of circuses) if they want. Rodgers isn’t forever anyway; it’s not really hurting Sanders’s opportunity to become the starter soon enough, and it’s not a threat to an established starter’s future.
Unless the Steelers don't like any QBs in this draft class. If they draft a QB on day 3 such as Will Howard or Quinn Ewers, they are just wasting a pick at this point
It looks like a number of teams took Shedeur off their boards entirely. He comes with so much drama, especially with how there would be instant speculation that his dad will be the next head coach, the moment a team loses a couple of games.
We will find out more about Shedeur's drop after the draft. I somehow have my doubts that he would do that, unless he got assurances from other teams that they liked Shedeur. Deion is not that dumb.
Most teams already had their franchise QB. Coming into the draft, only the Titans (easy pick at 1), Giants, Steelers, and possibly Saints and Seahawks were in the market.
Those are the teams that people could see this shallow class of QBs being an upgrade over what they have. Next year's class will show a lot more teams looking to upgrade
Pittsburgh is in a win now situation. No matter what they do, Shedure is not winning a super bowl next year. There will be plenty of Shedures in the future.
Nobody wants to deal with the circus he brings. Is that really hard for some to understand?
Every team has a choice and it’s clear what they’re saying, he’s not THAT talented to put up with that
Also, what are the chances that you are wrong in your evaluation of him? Sure, your scouts and coaches might think he sucks. And if they are right, you can cut him. And if they are wrong, you've just got yourself a QB for nothing.
You 100% know that if Deion Sanders called any one of your colleagues and called for the head of a player, coach, or GM, they'd beam him in live. It's a level of potential chaos that has few precedents. All for a guy with a high floor but a low ceiling, due to non-plus arm strength and athleticism.
Also, you utterly rule, and I always learn by watching you. This is a friendly disagreement. I think Sanders played his hand extremely badly, going back at least to last March, when his dad was saying cold weather teams shouldn't draft him. Now he's going to have to work himself out of it.
The answer is in the question. You're talking about the Steelers, who have been "lost" on offense ever since firing Todd Haley, seven years ago. Total cluelessness.
There is obviously an off-field issue that the teams feel is too much to try to fix and would rather pick a different QB. In 3 or 4 years we will see if Sanders is comparable to Johnny Manzell or Dan Marino.
There's a whole circus, including the President posting for Shedeur and quite possibly no team wants all of that pressure for a backup QB at best. One bad throw from a starter and you could have the President calling for them to be benched in favor of Shedeur. That's not something you want.
My working theory is there is some form of collusion among the front offices. The only flaw is you would have to trust all 32 not to leak and that couldn't happen. You gotta get in that Signal chat
Rodgers is slightly above average at this point. He isnt the same QB after the Achilles injury. If you can get him without the baggage, fine. But unfortunately he hasn't realized he is no longer the same QB
Mina, I know this philosophy or whatever you call it pre-dates Arthur Smith coming to PIT but this is what he did in Atlanta as well. Do you think there's something about this staff believing too much in making anybody at that position working?
As a Steelers fan I was in shock when I saw the Geno compensation. Like in what world are you getting that level of an upgrade (when your team desparatelt needs it!) at that position for that price? Made no sense why they didn’t make that move.

it's been stated as fact that Deion told several teams "don't bother"... do we have any idea if any of them were of the potential 4-6 QB needy teams?
Like Cleveland?
I mean.. another logical spot is LV behind Geno, with Brady, his mentor there. And no interest?🤷♂️🤔
but Deion believes everything related to him is the perfect blessing of God and thus deserving of the top pick.
And sadly, a lot of bloviating Clowns in the Sports-Talk-O-Sphere fed into the ego inflation.
But a lot of smart people let their ego give them a false view of the world around them.
It is a fact he told multiple teams no when it came to workouts, etc. And even Shedeur's first night message "we all know it shouldn't have happened"?
Not going to endear him to GMs.
Unless there are other factors that soured Tomlin to Sanders that aren't being aired publicly.
But I thought for sure, when he was there at the 3rd Rd? No Brainer, minimal risk, good potential reward.
But maybe he doesn't like the potential chemistry of Sanders & Pickens?🤔
A 41 year old QB in a tin foil hat prevents you from taking a later round swing on a 21 year old with a 2nd round grade?
Every team has a choice and it’s clear what they’re saying, he’s not THAT talented to put up with that
Steelers just got rid of that with Russ's departure.
Likely a much bigger story to unfold about his interviews and the due diligence done on him.
To be clear, I have no idea. I’m just going off what I assumed when I saw the deal.
But after he drinks the Soma Tea, he starts seeing pink elephants dancing instead of receivers in the End Zone.
