I’ve lived in Germantown for ~30 years. It’s a small town. We have to multi-purpose everything. That park is adjacent to the police and fire station as well.
Funnily enough it's around ~30 years since I went. I remember a great Soda shop. Loved that as a kid! Next time I went to stay with my cousins they'd moved over to a town called Lebanon which was closer to where my Uncle worked in Cincinnati. Nice area of the world though, all of it really!
"I had a buddy who lost an eye to hard pretzels. He couldn't stop screaming about the salt on it..some guy brought mustard gas instead mustard...it was a bloodbath"
I’ve been living near Aurora for four decades or so, but my sister Megan lived in Freeport for a time.
In my headcanon, based on no facts whatsoever, during the school’s early years, the only athletic team they could manage to field was a wrestling team. The nickname stuck.

I used to live near a SW Washington town where the high school football team was called the Spudders. The mascot was an oddly shaped, pissed off potato.
I had cousins and aunt/uncle living out there for about 30 years, managed to visit a couple of times, although saw them more often here as they'd be back to visit my grandparents and others. I liked it! And Kentucky, and Indiana, from getting over to them too. Airport was technically in KY, IIRC.

Nope. Just a coincidence.
About all we can conclude is that residents of Washington really love their potatoes, whether in mascot or doughnut form.

You're too kind, honestly.
