Play a new game.
Watch some stand up comedy.
Find a new series to binge watch (Devs is cool, Silo is too)
Go out of the pad, drive to a diner & sit down to have a meal out amongst others.
You'll feel more grounded.
I was here a couple years ago. I had to step away and it was one of the hardest things I ever did. I got help. Had amazing support and am readjusting. If you need to step away. You are showing your kids what you tell them all the time. That the "you" in "you matter" IS true. And you DO matter
I feel you. Fighting this hard to have them thrive, watching the world around us turn into something that will not let them continue to thrive.
My heart hurts.
Besides teaching in THIS, you’re also trying to raise some small humans, and that’s exhausting too. I don’t know if THIS will get better, but they will get more independent and give you more time to recharge.
So much love, Chanea. I kept going until fighting for COVID protocols at NYC schools led to not just burnout but moral injury. I miss my students and staff every day, and know I did beautiful work. I'm learning to love me more than I ever have. Hope you love on yourself and have support around you 🫂
It shouldn't be her responsibility to fix these problems herself. She should have the support from those in charge before even getting to this point. Ms. Martin we totally understand where you're coming from and empathy is great and necessary, but we need actual systematic change.
Same. I’m struggling too. My current anxiety nightmare as I creep closer to retirement is that my school falls apart after I leave because no one takes our place (tiny staff and three of us are due to retire together). I love teaching there are just so many other parts that are burning me out.
I think we all are running on empty - but you are a hero! You are making a difference and I love you for that. That is what matters right now the most. Hang in there -
I followed you on that other app and made sure I found you on this one. I love reading about the thoughtful work you do with your students and I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this. Holding you in my thoughts ❤️

Take it moment by moment when day by day is too big. 💞
Sending positive thoughts for rest your way.
I’m an exceptional teacher with a decade of experience. I’m doing phenomenal work in my classroom and in my school. My students are thriving.
And I cannot enjoy any of it because I’m running on empty all the time.
Not advice, but a question: what small first step can you make to improve things, at least a little?
Something that can be taken off your plate? Something added that will be just for you?
